I'm still looking for an AVP Elder loose and complete or boxed, any of you guys see a really good EvilBay deal and you don't want it yourselves, old man Gekko wouldn't mind a friendly PM for a heads up. Just figured I'd throw that out there.

You bet.

^^^^ scalpers.
here here.

i dunno if this guy is counting on a relatively elaborate eBay scheme, so much as counting on that "sucker born every second" rule.
there's ******* who'll pay $1,000 for Hicks and there's ******* who'll pay $500 for the elder. just cast the line and wait for a bite.

we'll see, i guess.

There are good deals that pop into the Bay of E. I snagged mine for $230 dlvd loose but complete, quills installed.

You may not want to consider this guy a scalper. If he had bought 20 and was selling every one for that price, then yeah he'd be scalping. This person may just need some money quick. If someone offered me 500 bucks for my Elder, I'd drive them to the ATM!

Someone just put a Scar Pred up, BIN for $699. There was one offer but it was declined.

Might be a strategy.

It's not just a BIN format, but a OBO format too. People will come in and lowball, he can try to move them to email and work a market price OUTSIDE of using Ebay and then just cancel the auction. Save himself the other fees aside from listing a BIN at that price. If you can get someone to pay via Money Order outside of Ebay, you've saved a ton of fees.

Let's say it rocks 300 final price in a traditional auction, thats 11.80 in final value fees, another X amount for insertion depending on what you add to it, and PayPal takes what? 3 percent? For argument sake, let's call it a flat 3 percent ( So factor in 15 to ship, that's 315 at the 3 percent plus 30 cents) So that's another 9.75. )

I think there are a lot of sellers out there that would rather split the difference in what they would have paid in fees with the buyer than just pay the fees.

Consider if it was a SST PF auction, where some of those things run 900 bucks. Your Final Value Fee is going to be 32.82. Some of those things are damn heavy, so lets say shipping is hypothetically 50 bucks. That's PayPal eating you 28.80. If secondary market value is about 900 and I'm paying 61.32 in fees, I'm only getting 838.68 out the door. So what if the buyer and seller split the difference? Charge 870 plus shipping. Buyer gets a price break if they do this outside of Ebay and pay with a money order, seller gets more than they would if they used Ebay's traditional system. If they padded shipping cost a little, they make out a little better plus they assume no risk. Buyer never pays, shipper never mails it, no loss. All risk is assumed on the buyer here.

This is probably why Ebay is so hardcore about trying to prevent sales outside of auction.

If this seller is actually looking for 475, then that's not a great strategy, if this seller is trying to open up dialogue to avoid fees by pushing people to private email and working a transaction that way, then it's actually not a half bad strategy for both buyer and seller as long as the seller is willing to split the difference in what would have been paid in fees.

GG

Man your posts are always really long :lol but your always dead right in what you say! :peace .
Asking that kind of money is a bit ridiculous if you ask me, but if someone does buy it for that price.. (which I doubt)
fair play to him/her
