"Awake" is an intriguing drama about a detective (Jason Isaacs, "Harry Potter," "Brotherhood") who finds he is leading an arduous double life that defies reality.
Following a tragic car accident, detective Michael Britten finds himself awake in two separate realities: one where his teen son, Rex (Dylan Minnette, "Saving Grace"), died in the crash and his wife, Hannah (Laura Allen, "Terriers"), survived and another where Hannah has perished, leaving Michael and Rex to pick up the pieces. In order to keep both of his loved ones alive, Michael begins living in two dueling realities, churning up confusion. In one reality, Michael and his wife debate having another child, while in the other, his son Rex is turning to his tennis coach, Tara (Michaela McManus, "The Vampire Diaries"), to fill the void from the loss of his mother.

Trying to regain some normalcy, Michael returns to solving crimes in both worlds with the help of two different partners, Detective Isaiah "Bird" Freeman (Steve Harris, "The Practice") and Detective Efrem Vega (Wilmer Valderrama, "That '70s Show"). Michael is assigned a different case in each reality and quickly discovers that his dual existence is actually a powerful tool. He begins to solve impossible cases by using his two realties to gain unique perspectives and link clues that cross over from world to world.

Helping Michael to navigate his two realities are his bureau-assigned therapists Dr. Evans (Emmy Award-winner Cherry Jones, "24") and Dr. Lee (BD Wong, NBC's "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit"). While both therapists work to untangle his two worlds, Michael has no interest in proving either one is false. But when memories of the accident begin to haunt him, he is forced to confront the truth about what really happened the night of the crash.

surprized i haven't found a thread for this and i looked..........:dunno

has anyone been watching this show?............i think it's excellent. i love how it is shot in 2 different hues to represent the 2 worlds he lives in. good solid writing & acting.
although i pretty much hated Jason Isaacs since The Patriot"....j/k.....:lol he does an outstanding job in this. if you haven't watched it give it a try........:lecture

I agree with everything you've said. I've watched every episode, and really enjoy it. That being said, it probably won't last more than one season. :lol

yea............it will go the way of terriers.............:panic:

I've been meaning to write about this show - it's one of my favorites and I think deserves to be up there with Game of Thrones and Walking Dead although it doesn't have the geek-appeal of those shows.

It does deal with an ambiguous supernatural element though, even though this is used to explore the character and how a person processes grief. It's interesting to contrast this show with "Touch," another one with an ambiguous supernatural element but while Touch strains for that treacly sentiment every episode, Awake earns the sentiment with great writing and great performances. In Touch I just want Keif to start torturing people.

All that said - the ratings suck, so I doubt it will last.

Yeah, I love this show, although, TV By The Numbers already has it as either likely canceled or certain cancel, which sucks.

agreed dave, it totally kicks ass.....:lecture
the whole premise of the show is it's appeal (dual/dream sequence) & will ultimately be it's down fall. personally i think for this show to exist it has to stay the course it's on right now.........not knowing which side is which.........at the same time i know how damn fickle viewers can be with wanting a concrete story that they can wrap up and see an end game to it all. i want to see what world he is really in myself & had me wanting to know by the first episode but that should be saved for the series finale which could be a doozy if this show grew wings. i can see this going 3 seasons maybe 4 with the same writers building on the underlying story
of being an inside job of trying to knock him off and who that is
until people get tired of it but who knows?
it really has become one of my favorite shows as well............THANK YOU Mr. DVR maker........:hi5:

great episode..................loved the pool intro & ending. i lol'ed.

It's really a lot like Life on Mars - I liked the US version (never saw the UK one), and that show didn't last long either.

damn..............

this show was really awesome too.............every show was getting better & better & getting to the gist of the wreck that started it all. not to mention that wilmer valderrama was really showing his ability to seriously act as well. oh well............eff you ratings...........:pfft:
