Sadly, I had to cancel my pre-order for the collector's edition, Argonath, and the last shield...just don't have the funds to support the habit!

Before anyone says it - the tree was put in differently so looks different to pics we've seen

Probably going to be my favourite LOTR item....

Personally, I would have preferred a dirt, rocks, and tree roots look to the cutaway side, but other than that small preference it looks fantastic.

This piece did look fantastic in person. The cutaway on the back was less distracting that I thought from photos (the dark black) and the insides of the rooms were very detailed and not too small. Do I wish it were larger overall? Sure, this was my problem with the Argonath. But the size is good, certainly larger than most other environments from Weta, and the detailing really is quite sharp. I still don't know if I will get the "exclusive" for twice the price of the open edition.

Those were essentially production pieces too, I am so glad that Weta was able to effectively present the grass and vegitation.

I thought the tree would be difficult to recreate effectively in 3D but they appear to have pulled it off. The whole piece looks fantastic.

Got to see it also....it IS fantastic. Whether you get the open edition or the collectors' edition with the interior cutaway, you will not be disappointed. Tree is fabulous and the detail of the grass was great (who'd think there would be any comment on plain old grass?) This is one of those pieces that cries out for a thorough look-see with a magnifying glass.
