Totally agree.. You can make an intense, awesome film as PG-13 nowadays. They allow you a lot of leeway. Just don't have any intentionally gory scenes or blatant cussing... and you can have PG-13. This doesn't worry me in the least.

Bale being attached does lend it some credibility, I can't wait to see what they do with it.

Well truthfully, I probably would have waited until these came out on DVD before I watched them....but with Bale attached....I know I will be seeing it in the theaters....I'd watch him act his way out of a paper bag.

I can see why the studio wants it rated that way--they increase the chance of ticket sales by not excluding the high school crowd (who will be wanting to see Batman fight killer robots) and they get a better financial return on their investment with the potential of filling more seats.

I think that only nine of the top 100 money makers were rated R. And only two were in the top 50--The Passion of the Christ and The Matrix Reloaded.

Terminator 2 leads the existing trilogy with $204 million. Arnold was back for #3 and it made $150 million without James Cameron. If they are going ahead without Arnold OR Cameron, they are going to need all the help they can get--and opening up the doors to the 13-17 year olds probably sounds like a good idea to the accountants.

It's great that Bale's in it, at the very least we can expect some respectable acting, but the 3 more films thing puts me off, we already have 3 movies, and a tv show, I was hoping T4 ended the series with an epic bang, but I cannot see that with 3 more movies, it's cheapening - and stretching - the concept.

Yeah I agree - making three more movies put this franchise into "Freddy Krueger and Jason" territory - overplayed and overused.

I shall predict the future and say that when all three new films are done with, the first 2 original cameron films will still be the best of all time

We know the Batman Franchise will be losing Nolan after the third but Bale has gone on record saying he loved the character enough to continue going back to the well if they continued to want him. I wonder how this will play into it having him signed for 3 Terminator films....

Also, the pendulum is swinging back the other way as PG-13s are getting edgier and you are getting away with much more. It used to be much worse in terms of ratings and what you get away with, remember Sixteen Candles? Rated PG and you see drug and sexual references not to mention full blown shots of Haviland Morris completely naked in the shower scene. Do I think it'll ever get as loose as it did in the 80s? No. But the conservativeness of the ratings system is beginning to give a little due in part to the limits the new R Comedies are pushing and so a Terminator in PG-13 isn't exactly a death sentence as it would have been only a few years back.

YES!!!!! In Bale we trust!!! He's revived Batman, rocks in just about every role he does, and the chicks did him.

PG13 is way different that what it used to be!!! Remember Ghostbusters 2??? that was PG13 at the theaters. I remember because I was 12 when it came out and I had to con my mom into buying me a ticket so I could go see it with my older,cooler friends.

we'll have to wait and see... Freddy and Jason movies don't exactly have A list actors in them either. (Sure they get them before they are stars,Kevin Bacon, but not when they are on top of their game.)
