Can't watch the video at work but I get the gist I'm sure. She is of normal or even below normal weight for the average person but too "fat" for her ballet troupe.

What people don't understand really is that this is sensationalist journalism to get people riled up over something they don't understand.

Ballerinas deal with this stuff all the time. I dated a few and married one. My wife is 5'2" and weighed 80 pounds through High School because that is what was expected of her. That is what they wanted of her as a ballerina, she had the opporunity to walk away and quit but she loved it so she did what they asked. Even now she is very petite only weighing about 105 but if you ask her she feels heavier and larger from carrying such a small frame for so many years. Even pregnant she never crossed 120 at 9 months.

You don't have to be a ballerina, you don't have to be a model, people will scream and yell about unhealthy body image and things of the like but its all voluntary. If you don't agree then don't participate no one is forcing them. The amount of physical damage they endure both on their weight and their feet, bloody and broken toes is the norm, they do it because they love it and know what they are getting into.

Mike she's not even too fat for the troop. She looks absolutely fine. Where he thinks she's fat is beyond me. The critic probably wants the attention.

why is weight and looking fat always a sensitive issue for women, I want to understand more of this. is it the same way with jealousy?

Who thinks she is fat, the critic or someone related to the actual production of whatever the hell they are putting on (not seeing the video is hindering this conversation :lol)

Shall we not open that can of worms? Every person has their own reasoning to why body image is an issue or not an issue and to try and dicypher all of them would cause the internet to implode.

The critic is the one who has the problem with it, not the troop.

because women spend the majority of their lives doing everything they can to snare a rich husband. looks are important to us rich men.

Ah. Yeah, they are looking to make a name because they know a ton of people will fire back hate letters and they'll be considered "edgy and shocking". Like I said Sensationalist Journalism.

Meh. Why should she care what he says about her weight? Unless her weight is affecting her performances she shouldn't worry about what some douche says.

i'm not a dancer, but my understanding is being thin is important for ballerinas because sometimes people have to lift them up. the weight is irrelevant as long as the moves are being pulled off.
