I'd definitely be in for a set of these. Its the only TV show I followed every week when it was on live (normally I must tape and watch later to fast forward through Ads).

I make sure to watch the DVD at least once a year. (I've also read the book, Stephen Ambrose's other books and have the Soundtrack)

So in the case of BoB, one question would be who should the face sculpts look like. While I'm sure each actor was carefully considered, should say Major Winters look like the actor that played him or the real Major Winters as he looked in 1943-45.

Personally I think they should look like the real actual people, anything less is just disrespectful.

I think people want the TV characters. With all due respect to the veterans, people associate Damian Lewis' face with Winters, Ron Livingstone's face with Nixon etc.

i agree that people would probably want the actors sculpt. but what would be a really cool tribute would be an insert into the packaging or on the back of box that show the real person and a bio. kinda like the bonus features did in the box set.

Going with the actors' likenesses for the figures and including an individual bio of each Easy veteran on the packaging would be an excellent compromise!

Sideshow would definitely get my vote for head sculpt duties. Dragon, DiD, or even some of the smaller independents who've been focused mainly on producing incredibly detailed and accurate WW2 figures and equipment would most likely be in the best position to handle an undertaking of this magnitude.

Again, I would point out to DID's sculpt of Nix, IMHO it is a much better likeness of the actor than what I've seen on most SST sculpts.
Just saying that there's lots of sculptors out there who can nail a likeness, and not necessarily all of them work at SST.

Disagree 100% :emperor

i agree with your disagreement..........sideshow could completely do this line justice if they would be willing to do the RD it would take to be screen accurate as the hanks/spielberg production team did to bring us the most excellent BOB saga. watching the extra bonus features show how in depth they really went to make everything as accurate as possible & down to the last details on the buckles of leggings.........and they didnt have to ....but they did. and really if you think about movies and what seperates a great film & a greater than great film........its the details !! :lecture

Agreed. It would only be worth it if SS went really big on the R&D for this. There's just so much detail involved to do it half a$$.

I guess I just don't understand why we should hope for SST to do a ^^^^load of R&D when other companies are already doing fantastically accurate figures of 1/6 scale WWII military, using materials such as wood, metal and leather, and are doing great headsculpts and loaded with gear for under 70USD...

I just don't see the logic in that.

To me, it would actually be easier to kitbash these figures. You just need to get the headsculpts.

Im watching it too. Good stuff.

On a side note... I sent Ada Chan (ebay 1/6 head sculptor) a message on ebay requesting that she take a stab at sculpting some of the BOB charactors. Maybe she'll try sculpting a couple if enough people make requests. I figured it was worth a try. She does pretty good work and with the availability of all the 1/6 gear, BOB customs are somewhat easy to make. I'm finishing up a Sgt. Guarnere right now and have a Buck Compton in the works. They could benefit from some more decent sculpts though.
