S.H. Figuarts going to start making LOTR figures.

This is great news! I’ve collected some of the Diamond Select line and it’s a mixed bag. Legolas looks really bad but their Sauron, Moria orcs, Gimli and hobbits were decent. Hopefully Sh Figuarts does a better job on the line.

I used to collect 1/12 and SHF were probably the best quality/most well built in that scale- sometimes being over-engineered and definitely overpriced; especially the online exclusives- but the likenesses were seldom on point, the dotted paint print apps had very mixed results, they’re the smallest figures in 1/12, body proportions are on the skinny side, and nothing was ever weathered.

If I were still in this scale, I’d be pretty optimistic and excited but would also prefer these were being made by Mafex, who will most likely announce their own LOTR line in a few months.

I've had a few Star Wars S.H Figuarts in the past and they were really good and a cut above the Hasbro Black Series at the time. I'm excited to see these as I didn't bother with the Diamond Select LOTR line as they look mostly awful and I've been hankering for some 1/12 scale LOTR for years to replace the old ToyBiz stuff.

I don’t think Kit sells figuarts does he? Back when I used to get a Star Wars one here and there I used AmiAmi but it always seemed like they sold out or closed the preorder super fast. Oh well hopefully these aren’t too hard to get and don’t have a big markup to get them here.

Good question I think Diamond Select has the rights. So it will likely be like Inart global license not states license.
License will be broken down by scale, DS’s license for 7” shouldn’t impact these 1/12 (6”).
InArt probably couldn’t get a global one due to Asmus’ license (or didn’t want to pay global rights, probably quite expensive).

That’s true, DS is a bit larger than 1/12. I guess we will know soon.
