I know I sure loved my entire set of Universal Monster SSE's.
thank you sideshow for reissuing them all ... :monkey1

:exactly: :goodpost: I'm selling some of my uni PFs because I need the funds but I already feel like I'm making a huge mistake. So far SSE Franky are sold as is Dracula's color PF. I can still save The Wolfman which I may and maybe part with The Creature (love this piece but he's so darn big). Anyways as for Baroness, the first PF is a classic and will be Darth Talon territory soon IMHO. The classic Baroness...? Never gonna happen. Not a problem with the money-grab re-release but make her another pose at least. If not it's just lazy. Crimson would have been interesting but still not what I'd go for because they got this pf right the first time. My two cents. :)

i voiced my concern on the ask ss thread and alex responded, of course the official party line is always variants are normal. But we all know the ONLY reason they did this was because both ex & reg of the original pf got soldout relatively fast, which surprised ss. But they can't make more since the es was already announced, so they just changed color slightly (black to dark blue seriously?) to re-issue another version as a cash grab, just <2 months after the original. It's kind sickening. At least change some of the outfit, fix the butt, or do something...but nope just an identical re-issue.

https://www.sideshowcollectors.com/forums/showthread.php?t=120335

PS I would not had a problem with this at all if it was announced at the SAME time the black pf was put up for preorder, if this was not some kind of last minute cash grab as they claim, why would they not announce it at the same time and let the fans choose, considering the variant came only <2 months later.

What a bunch of hogwash.

This is not the first time SS has offered a different colored variant statue after the first version sold out, such as Hulk. The bottom line is either you want to own the object they are selling and are willing to pay what they ask or you are not. I like the blue with silver, and would buy it if I had the money, which I don't.

If I missed out on the first one, I would buy this if I had the money. Bowen reissued statues with other color schemes after the first ones sold as well. In fact, reissuing something and just changing it's color has been done with a wide variety of products many times throughout history. There is nothing new about this.

Besides, a real Baroness would probably have more than one color of her outfit, too. You know how women can be with getting a different colored dress to put on their same body...
There is nothing to gripe about. There will still only be so many blue ones. There may even be red ones too. Why not? Buy because you like it, and not just to impress others or feed your ego with low ES.
I agree they should fix the butt this time, though.

if you are happy with sideshow reissuing your statues after the fact, that's wonderful, but i sick of getting jumped on by ss rent-a-cop such as yourself for expressing my opinion, with little snides like 'who gives a ****", obviously many people do. I am not the one pretending to be on some morale high ground making pointless jabs against people who express a different opinion, you are.

So kindly **** off, waste of oxygen.

Grow up, Gain some perspective. You've stated your opinion, troll along now.

I'm not condemning your poor excuse for a moral high ground because it's an opinion that contradicts my own. I'm condemning it because it's horse****. Just another customer who thinks the company exists for their sake. Waiters spit in your food, just so ya know.

You two need to get room, you fight like a married couple. :monkey1

I was wondering what you thought. Thank you for relieving the suspense. I don't know how much more I could've taken.

As a Sideshow retailer myself, thought I would weigh in on this piece...

I'm not personally cracked up about some of Sideshow's choices for Retailer Exclusives as most of them have only been re-paints however the fact remains that it DOES offer those individuals an opportunity to pick up the same sculpt that missed it the first time around.

I have personally asked my Sideshow Rep numerous times in the past where they get their ideas for pieces and Retailer Exclusives in particular. Unfortunately, I always get the same response in that their designers and artists felt that there was an opportunity to expand on a previous version that would appeal to additional collectors.

Additionally, I have repeatedly asked if the designers/artists of these pieces look to the collecting community for input however I can never get a firm answer. You would think that as dependent as Sideshow is on their customer sales that they would look to collectors for THEIR input however that doesnt appear to be the case.

Dont get me wrong, I'm on board with about 90% of their conceptual ideas but there are times like most of you, I just have to shake my head and say "What were they thinking?"

Agreed. They're also starting to lose fans with their crazy ES they're doing for the DC. It won't affect them that much but then they should just be a toy company and not a "collectibles" line. 9500 Batman statues...? That made me pass. The only DC PF I may get is Wonder Woman but not if they make 9500 of them. As for Baroness, who knows how many re-issues they will do for her, but it is killing the joy of collecting for me. Oh well, I already own the pieces I want and will pass on mass produced pieces and re-issues. Just IMHO not telling anyone else what to do. Some people don't care at all about ES and re-issues and that if just fine but I'm not one of those people. Personally, I will just stick to what SS produces less of in terms of ES and no re-issues. :gah: :)

it is ridiculous es for Batman, but that isn't a reason I would pass, it is a great looking sculpt and will be happy to have one regardless of the es

An insanely high ES just means you're better off picking up the statue months down the road for hundreds less of ebay. Doesn't mean you have to pass altogethfer though.

Once SSC sees that no one will pay retail for a statue doomed to depreciation they'll start lowering the ES's again.

Actually, you just called it. That was exactly what I was planning to do if I pick up Supes and Batman... :wink1: There's no way I'm paying $400 for a piece with an ES of 9500. Not gonna happen ever lol.

well good luck getting the exclusive for under retail, but you guys are dreaming if you expect hundreds off a $400 regular, maybe $50-$75 off, but he is batman, he will sell off eventually. I will easily get a few to custom though if I get a nice discount

Agree 100%. I've never understood the ES mindset. If you get a piece it should be for the joy of having a physical representation of your favorite character(s). It leads me to believe that if the ES is that important to you, then you're already looking for resale value. At which point you need to re-evaluate why you're collecting in the fist place. Just my .02.

Unless you wanna buy two because you know its amazing and wanna cash in and keep one. MUAHHAAAHAAA :lecture

:goodpost:...... No need to pass, just buy it cheaper not from SS.

That sounds like a great idea in theory but unfortunately you will probably end up having to buy it from an individual as opposed to a Sideshow Retailer. Only because Sideshow has personnel monitoring eBay on a weekly basis to ensure that their retailers do not sell their products below their max 8% discount per Sideshow's Retailer Terms.

I could go on and on about how frustrated I am with Sideshow's continuing attempts to compete with their Retailers however this isn't the proper forum.
