I really don't know where to put this thread, so I apologize if this is the wrong place... I just figured this forum had the most folks that would be interested in checking them out. :)

For those that don't know me, I run a couple of blogs/pages on the net... One being my page dedicated to Burton's Bat- 1989Batman.com. Over time, I plan on posting everything I have related to the film... Vintage Videos, Newspaper Clippings, Magazine Articles, Toy Reviews, etc. If it is somehow related to the Burton Bat-universe, I will try and get it up over there.

Well, I recently had the opportunity to look through the original style guides created by DC Comics/ Warner Brothers for some stuff not quite related to Burton's world- "Batman The Animated Series", "The New Batman Adventures", and "Batman & Robin". For those unfamiliar with what these are, style guides are created by copyright holders to assist licensees in maintaining a uniform look across all their tie-in merchandise. Companies would use the information and images shown here in the design of their product, creating a look that was uniform to its respective property. The style guides for these 3 particular works are LARGE and contain a hefty amount of visual reference.

Thanks to the current keeper of these guides, I have now begun the process of scanning each of these guides and archiving them over at 1989Batman.com. While these aren't particularly related to the Burton films, each of the projects spun out from the world created in "Batman" & "Batman Returns", and with them not being available online anywhere else that I can find, I felt adding them here was worthwhile. The task will not be a quick one, as each guide is over 100+ pages long. As part of the agreement in hosting them, I also need to watermark each page (as inconspicuous as possible, as I ordinarily HATE watermarking stuff), so that too will add to the time in doing this. Since there will be a lot of time involved, and the guides themselves are broken into sections anyway, I figure the best way to go about this would be to post a section of each guide at a time until they are complete. I am starting with "Batman The Animated Series" (which is the only guide that is missing a few pages), I will then move on to "Batman & Robin", followed by "The New Batman Adventures".

The first installment just went up and can be found here: Batman The Animated Series Style Guide Part 1- The Intro Pages

Today's posting covers the 7 "introductory" pages to the guide. While there isn't a lot here to get too excited over, I hope you'll keep checking back for future installments in this process! There is a ton of great artwork here... stuff rarely seen by those outside the industry.

As each new installment goes up, I'll throw a link in this thread (if it is okay with the mods). Oh... and if these style guides interest you, here is a link to a previous entry at the site featuring the '89 Batman style guide- Batman 1989 Style Kit

Thanks guys!

Great stuff, Sallah! You're building one hell of a comprehensive Bat-site.

Re: Batman Style Guides...

Thanks guys! I hope to have the next installment up over the holiday weekend... but it is the section labeled "characters", and is probably the largest of the batch, so it may take me longer than I expect. ;)

Brilliant to see this stuff Sallah. :clap

Re: Batman Style Guides...

Thanks a lot, Sallah! :clap
I've always loved the show's design and style, so much amazing stuff in this book!

Re: Batman Style Guides...

Glad you guys are enjoying it! :yess:

I should have Part 5 up in the next few days... Then there is just one section left- but it is probably the second largest (maybe even the largest), so it may take a little while to get it all scanned.

After this one is done, I will probably scan up the "Batman & Robin" one, and finish off with the "New Batman Adventures".
