Battle of the 1/4 Scales: Premium Formats Vs 1/4 Figures?

I don't think anything major will happen. When you think about it 1/6 scale also has a huge market of statues as well as poseable figures and so does just about every scale out there. Both sides always have advantages and drawbacks to them so it's not like one will ever outclass the other.

Hopefully the entire markets kills the collectors and lowers all prices in general. we are long over due for a correction in prices

Imho, the biggest downward pressure on prices are firstly, the global economy.. and secondly Neca ramping up releases in 1:4 scale.. yes, there is a quality difference.. but Neca are currently coming in under £80, if the quality improves a tad and they release limited editions at approx £150, I think they will start eating a lot of HT and Enterbays' lunch..particularly on figures where costume is less of an issue.. like Iron Man, etc.

That's crazy! But the quality and likeness still blows me away. I would not buy it because it's just over priced for me. Now if they were like 150.00 to 250.00 max then maybe if I find a stunning figure. At current prices I have no plans to buy any of them. Now if they price those at 200.00 to 250.00 I bet they can do some serious damage on the long run on SS PF lines. Saying if they can get the big name licenses as well.

i will buy 1/4 figures from ht and enterbay because they usually have far better paint app and quality than ss pf counterparts, however i will only consider 1/4 figures satisfying all of the following:

1) do not have ugly cupholders to hold the figure in place like a cripple
2) do not have exposed joints
3) characters that dont resemble a creepy barbie doll (ie: ht blackwidow figure)

so far none of the 1/4 figures satisfy all of the above points, so no bite.

One thing i really dont understand is why cant they use a peg into the base like statues to make the figure stand up instead of the ugly cupholder. Looks so bad.

Wow! Very good points never thought of those. All 3 are a must. I agree with you on all of them.

Yep, those 3 points are pretty much my own criteria when selecting 1/4 figures. The visible joints are a complete no go. Saying that, i did customise a movie accurate jacket for my EB 1/4 Rambo figure which worked prefectly.

Well after seeing the 1/4 NECA Avengers Cap today I can honestly say I love my TFA PF. Difference between art and a toy with that comparisson at least.

I am one of those guys at this point right now who is leaning toward collecting mainly figures again. However, this time its going to be only select 1/4 only. I collected many comic book like statues over the years and they are starting to bore me since there isn't really much detail on them compared to 1/4 movie type figures.

I am still waiting for in hand pictures of 1/4 TDKR Batman before restarting my 1/4 figure collection again while unloading some 1/4 statues. I got to admit at this point I am thinking about getting the Enterbay 1/4 Damaged T-800 because my friend have one and its STUNNING! I am also waiting to see how Hot Toys will do with the 1/4 Avengers because I really want Thor at the moment.
