Thanks everyone! :duff

The Emperor really is one of Sideshow's best human figures in the SW line. Unfortunately, I got too busy this weekend to take more pics like I wanted. Maybe in the next day or two.

The camera I'm using is the Sony NEX-5N with a macro lens. I love it!

Nice photos of him, and yeah, Sideshow did a stunning job on him. It makes me mad when people talk around here like Trev's the only one at Sideshow who can sculpt but Tim Miller did an amazing job on the Emperor, I like his 1/6 portraits better than Trev's for the PF personally. When you light the figure right, the likeness just pops on this one, you really got some great expression out of the Ex. portrait, it's tricky, certain lighting doesn't quite bring it out but what you've done here hits the mark perfectly.

Thanks. I spend a lot of time lighting and taking pics only to end up using a few. I'm sure you know how it is.

A lot of my enjoyment from collecting is being able to photograph them as opposed to just posing them. I just wish I had bought a decent camera a long time ago.

Whoh! Loving the Emperor shots, Batty! :rock

Thank you sir! More to come.

Absolutely, it probably takes me 3-5 shots of some images to get it just right, at least when I'm changing up the lighting angle from shot to shot, if I'm just more so moving the figure around in the same lighting, it's not so bad because you already have a sense of what the results will be. Even after you do it for years, as you come up with new methods, you still have to shoot and see what you get, you can't just know it'll work.

That's my angle. I know I probably drive people nuts with how many photos I take and share, but it's a big part of my enthusiasm for the hobby. In some ways I think it's at the root of everyone's enjoyment of the hobby. Most collectors are buying products based on some form of visual media, be it comics, TV, movies, whatever, there is imagery built into our fandom. For me, there's a great joy in being able to capture a figure or statue in a photo that is faithful to the source, not necessarily mirroring an exact frame, but almost like it could be a deleted scene from the movie, it fits the source, it's faithful to the character. That's why, as much as there are a lot of nice photographers around on this site, I don't get as into the ones who take characters out of context. I appreciate the technique of their photos but I don't want to see something like Old Ben Kenobi doing Bruce Lee style kung fu moves.

This is a trait I love in your photos, the lighting is very nice but your framing and angles also demonstrate treating each character as they need. Your Jack Sparrows aren't like your Iron Mans, etc.

Almost forgot I started this thread. :lol
