has burton made a great movie in the last 10-15 years? and I mean great, not "just okay" or a rehash of his older work. sometimes i feel like his latest movies are a "greatest hits" kind of thing. (using stuff from the past to please the fanbase)

I wouldn't say very many (1 or 2) of his films have really been great tbh. I grew up with his Batman, and Beetlejuice is a great character, but I never thought the movies themselves were great. Burton had a great style and had some great characters, but now it's all just kinda played. Some of his best work has been the animated type stuff, I'd be interested in seeing more of that, but Frankenweenie was a let down.

Now Burton is saying that he will direct the film and Wynona Ryder is in too. It's funny how everything seems to be moving quickly after 10 years, just because Keaton is relevant again and might win an Oscar.

Tim Burton Says He's Directing 'Beetlejuice 2' and Winona Ryder Is In - Screen News - Zimbio

The Beetlejuice sequel has been rumored for a few years, rivaling Ghostbusters 3 for the amount of hearsay that's been written about it. But now director Tim Burton has seemingly confirmed the three things required for a successful second outing.

First: He's directing.

Second: Winona Ryder will be in it.

Third: Michael Keaton will play Beetlejuice.

In a new interview with MTV News, Burton confirms the first two parts and seems to implicitly confirm the third. He and Keaton are both doing the awards season publicity circuit right now for Big Eyes and Birdman respectively, but Burton says he misses the character and sounds like he can't wait to resurrect the ghost with the most.

A couple years ago Burton worked on The Killers' video for "Here with Me" with Winona Ryder, and it sounds like that reunion must have sparked something inside him.

“I worked with her, I hadn’t seen her in a while... and she was so great," Burton said. "I was so happy to see her. So those kinds of elements mean something to me. Michael, and her... and that character, I just miss it. There’s some freedom about that character that I love." Here he is talking about the movie.

Man, get Winona Ryder out of there. Move on from Lydia, especially if Barbara and Adam aren't in it anymore.

There's got to be other dead people Beetlejuice can **** with.

I Agree, there desn't need to be any tie to the first film. The only person that cares about Winona Ryder returning, is Winona Ryder.

I actually wish this movie would be helmed by somebody else besides Burton.

that's kind of sad. the guy is available for 10 years and Burton doesn't care but he gets hot again and now Burton cant wait to work with him again? wtf

Do you consider any of these great?

2012 Frankenweenie crap

2012 Dark Shadows crap

2010/I Alice in Wonderland crap

2007 Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street decent

2005 Corpse Bride average

2005 Charlie and the Chocolate Factory average

2003 Big Fish pretty good, love the ending.

2001 Planet of the Apes average, except the very ending is GREAT. I wanted that movie.

1999 Sleepy Hallowgood

I love Beetlejuice, but don't want to see it revisited. Other than King Conan, I don't want to see fond characters collecting a AARP membership.

Keaton wouldn't look that much different as Beetlejuice than he did in the 80s. He was a friggin' zombie corpse looking ghost. Keaton has still got the moves and looks healthy.

Beetlejuice and Conan are pretty much the only AARP members that make sense returning after decades on a hiatus.

Hollywood just paged my beeper, and when I called them from a pay phone they collectively asked: Are you new? :D

So Beetlejuice 2 might not be a sequel after all, says Tim Burton while promoting his new film.

Tim Burton Says He Wouldn't Call Beetlejuice 2 A Sequel | Comicbook.com

"There’s a script now, that I think is closer to what it could be and I’m excited about it," Burton explained, referring to a screenplay by Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter author Seth Grahame-Smith. “I wouldn’t call it so much a sequel, but it’ll have some characters. It’s a bit too early to say but it’s definitely something that’s on my radar and something I’d love to do.”

Script by the autor of "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies" and "Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter"?
No longer I am interested in this film. No, sir.

**** you, Burton! YOU should've die instead of McDowell and Skaaren.

Beetlejuice Sequel To Be Set In Present Day And Bring Back Michael Keaton According To Screenwriter | Comicbook.com

The screenwriter, Seth Grahame-Smith had this to say about the film. First, the film is not a reboot and Michael Keaton will be playing beetlejuice. In addition, the film will be set in the present day and they won't be overusing the actor in the film, and his role. Grahame-Smith is reportedly taking Keaton's "less is more" advice with the Beetlejuice character. He noted that in the original Beetlejuice film, the title character doesn't appear until almost the midpoint.

Recap

1. It's a sequel, not a reboot.

2. It's set in the present day

3. Beetlejuice is not in the film that much, just like in the original (Not sure how I feel about that)

I wouldn't mind seeing how a grown Lydia Deetz would deal with (or protect her kids from) a reemerging Beetlejuice. "Honey, I'm hooooome!" Who knows what direction they'll really go.

Yeah, he's like the Hulk--best in small doses.

Yeah, but I would like to know more about the character. Who was he? What was his real name? What did he look like before being a....ghost...or whatever he is? He's like 600 hundred years old. I also would like to see more of the nether world. Also, I hope the new film has a timeless feel and look, since it's set in the present. The original has a timeless feel, and there's nothing in it that makes it dated, unlike other 80's films.

The film’s screenwriter and producer, Seth Grahame-Smith has finished a few drafts of the script and Tim Burton next project will be Beetlejuice 2 as soon as he's done with his current film, "Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children."

Beetlejuice Sequel Script Drafts Completed, Principal Players Interested | Comicbook.com

I think the film should open with Beetlejuice finally getting his waiting room number called. Or getting fed up with the 30 year wait :lol
