I don't recall seeing any red flesh/gore on the end of Luke's stump! The saber would have cauterized it!

The worst mistake in ANH, IMO.
I cannot, for the life of me, wonder why Lucas left that in the Special Editions....They could have MOST CERTAINLY edited that with CGI and added smoking, blackened flesh in replace of that silly broken ketchup bottle.

Yeah, as someone mentioned Lucas wasn't real consistent on how saber wounds where after. Did they bleed like that or did they not.
