I recommend some of the DC movies mentioned already and would like to add New Frontier.

Agreed, I just got my Absolute Edition of the book, and it is incredible. By far one of my favorite DC books, and the film is a solid adaptation.

You think so? They seem pretty clearly targeted to mid-teenage to adult audiences to me, same as the Avengers or Nolan Bat-movies would be or whatever.

I think animated films based on superhero properties are made with kids being at least a significant concern, but I do agree that many of these films deal with heavier themes and issues that are more suited to teens and adults. I mean, there's a clear line between stuff like Under the Red Hood and Batman the Brave and the Bold.

Anyway, I remember another DC animated film I liked: Green Lantern: First Flight. I watched it right after seeing the abysmal live-action GL movie, so I don't know if that colored my opinion of First Flight. It's certainly much better than the Reynolds dreck.

Haven't seen it mentioned yet, but I think Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes is a fun series and sure it's made with older kids in mind, but embraces a nice mix of the comics and the films.

DC characters seem to own Animated Movie format and Marvel Characters own Live-Action

I'd like to see that reverse a little bit, more Marvel animated movies and more DC live-action

I think DC has just been knocking it out of the park with its animated films from the last few years. There's not much else I can add that hasn't already been said, but New Frontier, All Star Superman, and Dark Knight Returns have been some of my favorites so far. All have been amazing though, and I'll continue to buy them day one.

Also, I'll add that I'll GLADLY pay double for films to be broken up into two, if it means a fuller, richer adaptation like TDKR. As I mentioned above, I loved New Frontier, but to get a version with the Challengers of the Unknown, the Losers, etc.? Oh man, what I would pay to see that. :)

DC: This, including some shorts:

All Star Superman
Batman - The Dark Knight Returns (Part 1)
Batman - Under the Red Hood
Batman - Year One
Batman Beyond - Return of the Joker
DC Showcase - Catwoman, Green Arrow, Jonah Hex, The Spectre
Gotham Knight
Green Arrow - Initiation
Green Lantern - First Flight, Emerald Knights‎
Justice League - Crisis on Two Earths, Doom, The New Frontier
Superman vs The Elite
Superman Shazam! The Return of Black Adam
Superman/Batman - Apocalypse
Superman/Batman - Public Enemies
Wonder Woman

First Flight was okay, but I liked Emerald Knights better

And DC coming out the winner.

Comic book characters need to be doing comic book things.

The best ones:

The Dark Knight Returns, Under the Red Hood, Mask of the Phantasm, Superman vs The Elite, Return of the Joker, Public Enemies, The New Frontier, Year One, GL First Flight, maybe Doom. The rest of them is okay. And the weakest is probably Apocalypse. It is just painfull to watch and boring as hell. Ups I forgot the Gotham Knight. Man that was bad.

The Marvel movies are very-very weak. The best one is probably the Wolverine vs Hulk. That is it.

Well Red Hood and the Dark Knight Returns is not for kids. Especially The Dark Knight Returns.

Anyone seen the Wonder Woman movie from 2009, apparently that's supposed to be good?
