What kind of return do you have to file? If it's the simple forms, there are several places online that do them for nothing.

H & R Block has a free one this year for simple returns.

Too bad you guys aren't near me. I could do those for you. I even do our business taxes, but I have our accountant look them over for me since I can't keep up with the tax laws. 1040s are pretty easy.

I use turbotax every year. This year I somehow ____ed up big time. They asked me to confirm my salary at the end. I did. And well it somehow doubled my income. I now owe the IRS $12,444. :horror The amendment process is a nightmare and I can't even work on it until Feb 10th when the forms are available. So bye bye refund for a few months if not more. :(

Are the forms available online?

I used to do TaxSlayer, TurboTax, or whomever was listed on IRS's website, but. . .

This kind of thing is a cautionary tale. If you have a real job and make real money, don't screw around with the free/cheap online deals. Go to a professional and cover your bases. It is worth the investment.

I never do my taxes online. I still mail mine in. Stupid to a lot of people, but I have to do my sales tax online and it's a pain in the ass!

Or just don't try to work while doing your taxes at the same time. Had I been paying attention I may have caught the error. I was seeing green and distracted by a work phone call.
