I use turbotax every year. This year I somehow ____ed up big time. They asked me to confirm my salary at the end. I did. And well it somehow doubled my income. I now owe the IRS $12,444. The amendment process is a nightmare and I can't even work on it until Feb 10th when the forms are available. So bye bye refund for a few months if not more.

I had to do an amendment one year and it surprisingly when pretty quickly. I think they took care of everything in like 2 weeks.

I use OLT.com (online taxes).
Simple, Cheap, Very easy interface, and easy for me to make sure I get all the money I can back. Love it!

Great thread, because this year I'm taking it upon myself to do my own taxes. I'm not sure how difficult it will be, but I'm a student and only work part time........ BUT, I have investment accounts so that may complicate things?

Meh not really. Any places you have accounts with should send you all of your forms in the mail or print from online. You just plug in the numbers where the software tells you and you are done. Shouldn't be any easier or more difficult than before.

Agree with Sexy on this one. Most of the tax software has made it much easier for investments in recent years.

The only thing that could complicate things is if you made 100's of trades during the year, making cost basis calculation and entry a little tricky.

Thanks for the input guys. I jut did my return through turbo tax. Pretty easy, although it took longer than expected. I'm shocked as to how much I'm getting back!!!! Being a student apparently has its benefits!

Nothing wrong with zero, but if you believe you are owed money, I would either try another tax site or walk through every step in turbotax.
I've found "errors" in their gps system before where it wasn't counting certain deductions or credits if I skipped some sections.

yeah....i did the error check...and still nothing...

So bizarre. Nothing has really changed since last year. :/
