If you want to upgrade to Blu, Warner Bros is doing a DVD2Blu program where you trade in DVD's you don't want for Blu's (from Warner Bros catalog). Generally you have a selection from their site and most Blu's are only $4.95 each (with free shipping if you spend $35 or more).

That's good to know. I need to check it out.

See, this is why I REFUSE to upgrade DVD to Blu. Its pathetic how little we get for our used DVDs. I'll buy new movies that are worthy for BLU, but with the right TV/Component cables, my current DVD library is good enough for me. I guess after we buy all up all BLU, in 10 years, they'll be worth $1 then?

Definately. It beats trading in DVD's for 15 cents each. At least you can get some decent Blu's for DVD's you simply don't want any more. Just another alternative out there. It's similar to Warner Bros Red2Blu promotion they have to exchange HD-DVD movies for their Blu counterpart. This time, the DVD's you turn in could be from any major studio. Has to be original (not copied) and no porn!

Why do you need to sell your dvds just because you upgrade to blu ray? Blu ray up converts dvds anyway. So keep your dvds watch them, and buy future releases on blu ray. Just bought a blu ray player the other day and going to get my first movie, Tron today!

I haven't really upgraded too many of my DVDs to Blu. Just a few that I ask for Christmas. But I still keep the DVDs because I have a portable DVD player that I still use every once in a while, and my computer only has a DVD drive. And they still look great on my TV.

The more annoying thing is when they add more features to a DVD, like the Alien sets. I had gotten the original Alien Legacy set, then I got the Alien Quadrilogy set (which included all those great documentaries), and now they came out with the Alien Blue Ray set, which supposedly has the full Alien 3 documentary that had been cut for the Quadrilogy set in addition to more extras. So I have to buy the Alien movies AGAIN!

But I do have a few DVDs that I want to get rid of anyway, just to streamline my collection. I'm ready to just donate them.

I thought so too, before I had a Blu Ray player... but it's VERY noticeable, up converted DVD will NEVER look as sharp as a Blu Ray...
There are certain movies that I prefer nice and crisps, specially visually rich movies...
I'm keeping a lot of my DVD, but I am also interested in getting rid of the ones I have now on Blu Ray...

If there is a movie I really like I have upgraded it. Why? Because I want the best version of that movie.

I think my list of DVD's to get rid of is at 50. :lol

This is pretty much what I do, unless I want the movie on blu really bad. I've got waaaaaay too many dvds to ever replace them all, I think some just don't make sense to replace on blu, like South Park or other simple cartoons or a lot of dramas that have no cgi or special effects of any kind.

Some Blu's are definitely worth the upgrade, but I have begun to sell some blu's because they will be worthless soon. Streaming will put an end to Blu rays and DVD's.

I have cut back on buying Blu-rays about 99%. My must have list has grown very short. I watch em once and I'm usually done with them.

Cinemax/Netflix/HBO :lecture

agreed. l still dont buy BLU their too expensive. why sell all my dvd's for 90% less then what l paid and upgrade to BLU. then after l do that, the next new thing will come out even better then BLU. then the BLU stuff will be worth nothing. when it comes to collecting movies it's loose loose.

Oh and selling dvd's locally is the only way to go.
