Death to Smoochy!

His performance in that was GOLD!

"Who touched my ass, someone touched my ass!"

HAHAHAHHAAHAHAHAHAHA

priceless.

I know most people hated Jack but I've always liked it. I saw it when I Was a kid and I remember liking it a lot. I had no idea it was hated until later online

It is really difficult to just choose one since a lot of his work has been so extraordinary. Since it is one of my favorite films of all time overall, I will pick Good Wil Hunting. He will be sorely missed.

Terrible options for such a poll.

"The World According to Garp" was the most interesting and unique movie in his entire career.

The Fisher King just destroyed me when I saw it in the theater. Brilliant work. (And, in my opinion, Gilliam's best work as director, too.)

One Hour Photo ... haunting performance. Just haunting.

Dead Poets Society ... there's a reason that monologue is being used in commercials today 25 years later.

In movies I liked him best when he wasn't doing the crazy, frenetic thing, but when he unleashed it in his stand-up, he was magic. 16-year-old me could recite the entirety of "Live at the Met" (including voices). Even the stuff I didn't understand.

He was a giant and he will be missed.

this song haunted me when I saw the movie, one of the saddest things I've ever heard, but I loved it. I used to listen to it often because of how beautiful the song is

But now it is going to be pretty hard to just hear it. Just listened to it and it made me sad as hell

Terrible options for such a poll.

I totally agree, Garp was my favorite as well.

I tried to make changes to the poll, but it was voted on in seconds and couldnt alter it.

to be fair, I think no poll would have been acceptable because there would have to be some glaring omissions from his career. I tried to include smaller roles along with bigger roles, but obviously I left to many out.

I could only pick 10 out of these...

Garp
Moscow on the Hudson
The Birdcage
Hook
Dead Poets Society
Mrs. Doubtfire
One Hour Photo
Patch Adams
Aladdin
Good Morning Vietnam
The Fisher King
Awakenings
What Dreams May Come
Popeye
Jumanji
Insomnia
Death to Smoochy

That's 17 options without a Other option.

And even if I had been able to include all of those, there still would be some films unmentioned that would have felt like slights to some forum members.

I tried, sorry if it's not to your liking.

Such a sad loss. :(

My choice would have been "Bicentennial Man".
Edit: AND "Hook" !!

For me his performance in Good Will Hunting is one of the best I have ever seen. I love the movie and watch it whenever it is on, but his scenes are extremely memorable, especially when he is talking about his wife.

Dead Poet's Society is probably the best role I saw him in, though my own personal favorite role of his was probably in Insomnia. I thought he made a great killer. And of course, the Fisher King. He was a really good actor overall, and I always thought so. I saw several of his films in the theater, including One Hour Photo, largely based on the fact that he was in it.

I agree, One Hour Photo and Insomnia were very underrated. His performances very great in both movies.

I can't say which is the best, but I can say that "What Dreams May Come" might be the most difficult to get through, right now.
