Thanks for sharing your video DarthChrisDK, i'd like to try something like that.

~161.5 inches

I am starting out with a unit that's 5 Bestas wide, so roughly 118". But I wanted to expand to 7 wide, which I may not be able to do. :(

This is an older comp, but essentially is what I still need:

Anyone in the Norcal area want to trade a full pax system for an equivalent besta or stuva system? I need to downsize to a shorter display system.

Finished working on my LED strip over the weekend to clean up the look of my collection

Now everything is mounted. Before I had just used the glue on the back of the led strips. But of course that did not hold as well, I'm thinking because the surface of the besta units is very smooth so not such a good surface for the glue. So with the led profiles I think they should be better

Not as bright as before, since I had 2 stores.

But the messy wires was a real eye sore, and the glass doors do help to brighten the shelves

Oakland? Berkeley? San Fran? Sacramento?

Also, does anyone know how the old light pink doors look next to the white? They're on sale at my IKEA and was debating whether to get 3 of those for $7.50 total or $15 for 3x Lapviken where I may have to buy the hinges as well since last I heard the hinges were sold separately.

Question, when you have statues like Batman/Superman PF that require a lower shelf, how do you put on the border doors since the hinges are offset by the lower shelves?

I see the new doors don't have the hinges mount anywhere on the vertical like the older Tombo doors - it looks like they use standard cabinet hinges like wooden doors. You'll probably have to shift the shelf so it doesn't fall in line with a hinge.

I wanted to put my Batman and Superman PFs at the top most spot with the border doors (either the new SINDVIK or my old VASSBO), but as you can see, compared to the TOMBO hinges, the VASSBO are the same I think (I'm not sure how the SINDVIK are as I haven't purchased them yet) so it wouldn't be able to be hinged up in the right spots due to the shelf position. Would I have to move the PFs to a different spot that works with the hinges for the doors? I thought I saw people who had them at the top with doors before, but I might've mistaken the positions.

But if I were to use Vassbo or Sindvik since I want to hide the lowered shelf, I wouldn't be able to, right?

No, don't think so, those probably have fixed hinge holes. You'll have to move the shelf to a different spot so it's not in the way - or (I know you'll love this) modify the shelf so it can clear the hinge and figure out a way to support it (another pin hole back from the hinge for instance)

Haha, I just moved the statues down a unit, seemed like the easier fix. :wink1: The hinges should match up now, might need to get the SINDVIK since the borders are slightly thinner and won't block the portraits as much.

Quick question, what tape is good to secure the lighting fixtures to the top? I used 3m vinyl gaffer/electrical tape and it just won't hold up against the weight of the wires and keeps "ungluing". I was wondering if there was a better solution that would hold strong but wouldn't be permanent in case I need to eventually remove it?

If you want strong and "might as well be permanent," I can recommend 3M VHB. Otherwise you can probably find some other 3M product that's not quite so permanent - or use screws/clips.

Shoot, I made a mistake, I meant the wires for the lighting fixtures. The lights themselves are on there pretty good, but the white electrical tape I used to pin the wires to the top keep coming off.
