Also, 1 USD = 1.098 CAD currently (Canadian dollar has gained a bit in the last few weeks after falling off a cliff earlier in the year)...

That's the inter-bank rate, not the retail price you'll pay at the bank or on your credit card. ;) I run my business in US dollars, so I'm also always on the alert. I'd love the Canadian dollar to slip another 20 cents. Or rather, the US dollar to gain versus the world market, which would be better for me, since I also buy inventory in USD.

And that's when it's not 2% plus 2.5% plus a fixed dollar charge (using a PLUS bank machine for instance).

You have to use AMEX if you're planning to get a refund. ;) They square up the original charge/rate in my experience. I've also called VISA before to complain and get them to refund the full amount - it's worked, but it's a hassle.

I see that some of you with the Vassbo doors have the shelf hidden by the frame of the door...How did you manage this? I would assume you drilled a new hole but this seems impossible due to space. Unless you simply just use no shelf?

I assembled roughly 75% of the shelf with the doors. I left the top just sitting on it for now since I need to wait for the LED strip. I can't believe I never looked into the BESTA before, it's a great display piece. And now I can have my FIGMAs lying on top and they don't have to be stored away!

I've been experimenting with various lighting options and placements. In the temporary display shown below . I 'm using two top mounted strips per shelve. First pix are the IKEA DIODER strips . Second pix are LED Bar lighting (Cool White) strips. As shown the Bar lighting strip produce a purer white light. Where the IKEA's are more yellow. As I'm still experimenting your comments are appreciated. Thanks

It's really up to you i'd say. I myself like a warmer color temperature but you may like a cooler one.

Thanks for the helpful comments. I returned the dioder strips and got the dioder discs instead. After hooking them up temporary, I think they are close to what I'm looking for. The light intensty is just about right, and I like the fact that the discs are thin and unobtrusive. The only negative is that I wish the color temperature was a little higher. According to the data sheet, they are warm white @ 2700 Kelvin. I read somewhere that the old dioder were a cool white light, and that IKEA changed vendors a while back. Anyway I think I'm on the right path.

Didn't you like the strips?
I think they light the items much better than the pucks. Vampirella is casting a lot of shadow over her features.

I was gonna mention that the light appears pretty dim. But I didn't want to be a ****** about it. (edit: not saying you're a ****** BTW :lol) He may just prefer mood lighting in his cabinets.

Why you :horse :lol

There's nothing wrong with subtle lighting. Was only a few posts ago I was saying I didn't want anything too bright.
I think because these are a single light source, I think each strip has nine seperate LEDs, directly above the item it's casting a shadow over what you're trying to light up.
Maybe positioning the puck further forward, infront of each statue, might help?
Maybe the poster is happy with the results :dunno Just trying to be honest and helpful.

I know. I was just saying I agree with you. I just really didn't want to be the first to bring it up. :rotfl.

The picture is darker than the real thing. Also I think having her face in shadow her give her a more sinister and foreboding look that fits the vampire character. the picture below is how she look with the Bar lighting strips I liked them but they were a little too bright and I didn't want the cabinets to light the whole room (which it did in pix 2 ). Lastly I don't think anyone is being a ******. I'm new at this and appreciate the feedback. Thanks

Yeh mate, that was a bit bright.
Having the strip either side will shine light into your room and two may be a bit excessive?

I have one strip running along the front/top of the cabinet which lights up the statues nicely and because they're covered by the Vassbo door there's no light escaping into the room.

You experimented and went with what's best for your needs. A photograph never shows the full story especially when it comes to lighting :duff

So you have something like this. I think that this could work I just need to put in a small piece of molding or something to block the light. but for experimenting purposes, a piece of duct tape will due for now.
