Hey guys, I did own some Betta fishes a while back and now got some to put on my desk at work. Wonder if anyone got some and discuss. Here are a few pictures, the one on the left is a common Betta from walmart and the other is labeled King Betta Half-Moon Tail from Petco. I was thinking of getting a Plakat and wanted to know if anyone knows if there are any difference with it from the Betta. Petco labels it Plakat and it looks like a smaller King Betta.

I really don't go on other forums that's why I didn't go to any fish forums.

:lol I was gonna just fight it but now I want to just display it

my suggestion is when you change the water, use spring water.... i had one at the office, lived close to 5 years.

Spring water? I just used tap water and added a aqua safe water conditioner. Is 73-74 degrees too cold for it?

Couldn't agree more.

Oh, and don't put a mirror in front of them. You wouldn't like them when they're angry.

I'd keep it in between 80 and 90 degrees. They are original from the rice paddies of thailand and prefer warmer/humid environments.

I actually like it when they get angry. I think I just found a name for the King Betta, Hulk.

Yeah I know, since I'm in a AC office I put it on my computer to act like a heater :lol got a 2 degrees difference

I swear, every fish I have bought from them has died within a week.

I got one of these from some local fish store in January/February/March of 07, and he's still alive..

Awesome fishy :yess:

Cool, what is it?

Well, lesson learned on buying fishes from walmart. Good thing it was only 3 bucks, but it does look healthy and real active.

Cool fish!

My local Walmarts are notoriously bad for their aquarium sections, it's really disturbing how poor they take care of the tanks. I've always had aquariums and try to support a good local fish shop if I can.

Yeah makes a big difference. you don't have to wait for 24 hours after changing the water to put the fish back. and contrary to what most people say they do like a bit of room to swim around, just because they can live in shallow, low oxygen puddles doesn't mean they don't like to swim, and give them a rock or something to hide behind.

Who has the master betta?

:rotfl I didn't catch on till I came back and read it because they do actually have a Master Betta :slap

Thanks, they are doing fine right now besides the flakes I feed them so I just got some pellets.

Damn, I bought 2 more short fin male betta last night, I was gonna get a imported from Thai Plakat but it doesn't look like a fighter. I want to find find a Plakat fighter. Just gave one to my co-worker.
