Re: Big Chief Studios Acquires James Bond License

I'm not seeing the increase in quality of figures with each release like some do. If the figures are improving (sculpt and tailoring) then it's going at a snails pace.

Re: Big Chief Studios Acquires James Bond License

Blitzway have only a few releases under their belt, and they are overtaking HT for accuracy and quality. That's a level to aim for.

This!

it can be done. If it's about initial budget and resources... line up the investors you need for the cash... if it's about production companies in the right places, fly there, scout it out, invest in prototype costs... If it's about talent, sculptures, tailors... poach from the best!

Re: Big Chief Studios Acquires James Bond License

The sculpt/paint is key and can kill a figure before it even comes out. PO numbers will show you this is the truth. That and the amount of pages a thread reaches the first day.

Re: Big Chief Studios Acquires James Bond License

Why is it that anyone expresses any opinion that isn't terrible, their opinions are dismissed? There's a lot of pejorative terms for anyone that has a negative opinion thrown around. That they are "just haters", their opinions are "bile", and even that this thread needs to be cleaned up; as if any viewpoint that isn't positive deserves to be censored.

When called out on this, most people would say something along the line of "There's a difference between expressing your opinions and being a troll". And that is true. But I haven't seen a single instance of trolling in this thread. All points brought up by everyone about this company have been perfectly legitimate, and we have gotten from the company in response has been passive-aggressive pushback and dismissals. Hell yea a lot of us feel negative about this. And we should have every right to express that just as vocally as those that are happy about this.

So excuse me if I'm not thrilled if this license went to the same company responsible for the still-occurring TARDIS fiasco and only has a dubious explanation for why they insist on charging well above Hot Toys prices for well below Hot Toys quality.

Re: Big Chief Studios Acquires James Bond License

I have replied to you about charging more than Hot Toys which is false. A break down a very rough one that I posted how the price structure works. Also any customers who have had problems with their Tardis have been dealt with once contacted support. Replacements have been sent out if required. We have worked with any issues raised with people who have had any problems with the Tardis. I'm not getting into it all and going starting a huge debate again. But it was one of your posts which was completely just bile. Not constructive or a concerns.

If you use what you charge for Hot Toys as a baseline, which is noteably above retail.

And yet you do this despite the fact that your figures are below Hot Toys quality.

Also any customers who have had problems with their Tardis have been dealt with once contacted support.
"Dealt with" is one term for it I guess....

Replacements have been sent out if required.
The problem is the standard you apply to it being required is far above the customers'.

We have worked with any issues raised with people who have had any problems with the Tardis.
Then I strongly suggest that you go over to that thread and start addressing the concerns of people who have been ignored, dismissed, or straight out insulted by BCS in thier attempt to acquire a non-defective product.

That's not true about the Tardis issue, some people were pretty much told to deal with it and that BC can't open up individual pieces in order to find a good one to send as a replacement. That's BS, if it was made with quality it shouldn't come to this. Also telling the people who have crooked doors that that's the way the material they are made of works is also unacceptable. Stand by your products. I've seen discoloration issues that were blatant and BC was like "nope, don't see anything"

That's just poor customer service. If it takes opening up several Tardis' to get a customer a good one so be it. Oh I sure hope the defective pieces are not put back into circulation.

Re: Big Chief Studios Acquires James Bond License

Well seems you know so much about BCS it's funny I've never seen you in the office. :) Some problems are due to the material it's made of yes, that is a fact. I know all those ones you have mentioned and they have been sorted. All defected Tardis have been destroyed either by the customer or ourselves.

Re: Big Chief Studios Acquires James Bond License

This is not the thread for discussion for topics covered in another thread. I think we're losing the track that the James Bond license is something that we've all been wanting to see since Sideshow dropped the line. Let's keep the discussion in this thread to the Bond license.

As I've said many times before, we encourage manufacturers to participate in the forum. But in order for them to feel like that's worthwhile the criticism must be constructive, not filled with over generalizations and not so negative.

That's funny because the same people are still complaining, have you checked out those threads? So if it's the material it's made from then that's a defect and they deserve full refunds with return shipping to the UK paid by BCS, right?

Re: Big Chief Studios Acquires James Bond License

Our prices on Hot Toys are the RRP here in the UK. So not above retail, what one man bands and eBay choose to sell them at, is up to them but the price is what it should be from our distribution house. Have you had a problem with a Tardis? If so has it been dealt with? If not PM me your name and I'll look into it.
All I know all Tardis have been sorted with customers who have had problems.

Re: Big Chief Studios Acquires James Bond License

Seems like several people are very upset about the Tardis situation, whatever it is, and have brought their vengeance to this Bond thread.

I've seen a similar reaction in the LOTR section, where a couple people felt a particular product was subpar and chased the company representative into various other threads he was in to express their displeasure.

Re: Big Chief Studios Acquires James Bond License

No it's not a defect it's the nature of the material. Funny enough we have offered full refunds to some customers who were not happy with the Tardis only one has had the full refund. Now if these people are still complaining and are not happy, then why are they complaining on a forum instead of contacting support?

Ive also always dreamed of seeing a Dark Tower film series. That doesn't mean I wouldn't be pissed if it was announced one was being made by Uwe Boll.

But this is the problem. In no way should negative opinions be considered any way lesser than positive ones. Nor the criteria for what is considered a worthwhile negative post be any higher than a worthwhile positive one.

Re: Big Chief Studios Acquires James Bond License

That was me.Somebody had to do it!!

I'll get them too Greggo.Absolutely.You know,I used to chat with Brant Bridges from Sideshow back in 2002/03 when Sideshow first announced the licence and I asked him about the viability of 1/6 vehicles, and he said, with some certainty,"I don't think you will ever see Any vehicles,in 1/6 scale, from any manufacturer, ever".I guess I was just way ahead of my time.Vehicles breathe life to the figures, particularly where the Man/machine relationship is most prominent. With ECTO-1 and the De Lorean in the wings it will make sense.Ill take a SPV too when you get round to Captain Scarlet.

Only a few years ago Howard Chan said Hot Toys wouldn't make Iron Monger and Whiplash me.2 because no one would pay $400+ for this stuff lol

Re: Big Chief Studios Acquires James Bond License

The 1/6 Aston Martin DB5 is the holy grail for many collectors. BCS make it happen! :)

Roger Moore needs his Lotus submarine though.

Re: Big Chief Studios Acquires James Bond License

I'd buy the Aston Martin.

I wouldn't buy the lotus. Not as iconic. Plus Moore not as popular as bond.

Plus ppl would complain that the wheels don't turn it, or they can't display it underwater, or something like that.

Yeah I've always dreamed of it too :)

And why exactly? Besides the fact that this company holds licenses that we all wish had cool figures, what has this company done that warrents protection from criticism? And why should criticism be considered worthy of censoring in the first place?:cuckoo:
