They are done… queen studios intimates they have the license but I think they are mostly full of **** in what they say.

Big chief made a bunch of mistakes with this line but I think that it’s a notoriously difficult license and much of it was not their fault

I’m not certain we will ever see anyone do it again

If price is not an issue for those left wanting more I’ll always find a way to get bond characters done… but the flakiness of those who are not hardcore in the custom community makes me always go the route of keeping the runs small even if they cost more.

I understand why people like official lisences but for guys in suits even the best companies csnt really do them justice.

At least big chief got me the best Connery and moore sculpts done to date and essential characters like odd job goldfinger and dr no.

And two rando things I didn’t really care about like solitaire and Baron samedi, sure whatever I’ll take it I guess.

I know BC probably had their hands tied in what film characters to release first, but i wish they had gone with TSWLM instead. A well done JAWS figure would have been a "must have" for me.

Part of the problem with Bond to me is that he’s often just a guy in a suit in terms of his look.

Not exactly the most exciting outfit for a figure or at least not one I need multiple figures of (I know he wore different styles and the actors were different but still).

Such a shame Dalton Bond and Q will remain prototypes for now. I hope whatever company takes over the licence will buy the prototypes and continue, similar to what McFarlane did when DC Direct (DC Collectibles) was shut down by AT&T / Discovery.

No hope of a Grant or Klebb then...😞

I'm not sure Klebb ever had a chance, but Grant had a rendered sculpt at least.

I'm sure Danjaq "owns" those renders, but at least we know what Inigo would have provided. Maybe one day Inigo will do a "Robert Shaw" offering that we could all use for Grant.

;)

For those listening, a Moore in his naval get-up along with Jaws in that turquoise double-breasted coat of his would make a wonderful double-set custom run. Those worldbox basketball bodies could work for the height. Just thinking out loud...

Yeah a Shaw sculpt would be great, it would be easy enough to cobble together a suit and body to make a decent looking Grant.
Even easier to get a seamless body and a piece of white cloth to replicate the garden scene:D

Would love to update that early 2000's head to the level of the rest of the figure.
I will say, mine is a cast that was painted, not the factory original Dragon head. Gotta have some standards when it comes to these things after all.

Although I'm serious when I say I'm sad BCS lost the license and very disappointed with some of the decisions made for the last two figures. I was very impressed with the Dr. No sculpt and thought the Dr. No JB was quite impressing as well.

I didn't even yet get a chance to fully decide about whether to order from them. A shame also about that high price they set for them, it pushed me further away from getting these when the outcome was disastrous for some releases and certain unacceptable decisions for these already expensive figures.

Well, I was able to score a Goldfinger Bond at just below retail just earlier today. I know I'm not nearly as big of a Bond fan as many of y'all in this thread but selling this figure was one of my greatest regrets when I was going through a job loss, even with it's short comings. Bond is one of the few movie characters that my dad absolutely loves, has seen every film, knows a lot of trivia and will always watch anytime any of them are on tv. When I originally got the Goldfinger Bond he thought it was so cool, so I'm very happy to have it coming back into the collection.

Nice, where did you get one? Prices on eBay are crazy. I too sold mine and have lived to regret it.

Well I guess it was actually retail now looking back on sideshow’s website. I paid $250 with free shipping on eBay this morning but I thought I paid around $275 from Sideshow for some reason. I guess that was probably with shipping back then. The crazy thing is, I wasn’t even looking for it. I was watching another item from the same seller and when I got the “count down” email, they showed Goldfinger Bond as another item from the seller. I was shocked no one had bid and I even waited until the last couple of seconds to place a bid (which I only did $255 as my max) and no one else ended up bidding so I got lucky with getting it for that price.

Didn't a rep from BCS used to be on these boards some time ago? Then when people started giving constructive criticism they went off in a huff.

I think ultimately BCS had too much on their plate and they got overwhelmed in the end, obviously trying to cut corners as much as possible and improve their profit margins. (the tailoring in particular was pretty sub par on the Bond figs, the sculpts were good but the paint apps were also lacking imo.) We got the excuses come out about covid and supply chain issues, moving to new factories etc. Ultimately though it was down to BCS to overcome these problems and it appears they couldn't. Wheather they lost the Bond licence or had it taken off them, who knows? I think they probably relinquished it, as they were probably making too many losses.
