My first R-Rated movie was Conan The Barbarian, sadly my mom didn't think that out to well as I was 4 at the time. But my crying evidently learned her a valuable lesson:lol

Sometimes parents make mistakes, as we were discussing it years later (I of course really didn't remember being at the movie) she said she knew it was a bad idea, but hadn't seen a movie in the theater for a long time and really wanted to see Conan so she went against her better judgement. Also, at the time I don't think she was quite prepared for how violent it is.

And not sure if its related, but Conan the Barbarian is one of my top 5 favorite movies.

Yeah, but do you still cry when you watch it? :D

first Rated R movie in the theatres was Robocop 2. My mom painted a mustache on me and stuffed my shoes to make me look taller! I was 17.

My second was Apocalypse Now (the same year as Alien) when I was 13. I begged my dad to bring me because I read in Bantha Tracks or Starlog or somewhere that Harrison Ford was in it. I had no idea what it was about before we went to see it. I think it was more horrifying to me than Alien. :lol

It *is* more horrifying than Alien! :lol

I'm not really sure... probably either The Exorcist (1973 - I would have been 13 or 14) or The French Connection (1971 - I would have been 11 or 12)...

Those are great first time R movies!

Yeah, thinking back on it, I'm surprised my Mom took me to see either of them. :D I know I saw The Exorcist in the theater... what I can't remember is if I saw The French Connection in the theater; I can't really imagine her taking me to see that one, so it must have been The Exorcist.

I need to edit my previous post. :monkey3

Blade Runner was the first rated R movie I saw in the theatre not the first I ever saw.

I was lucky. We had cable, which was pretty rare at the time, when I was young. I saw TONS of rated R movies all the time. :monkey3

Seriously? Since you were 17, couldn't you have just gotten a ticket yourself?
