LOL not even close? Ok, whatever you say.

How can you look at the proto than look at this pic and think they are same? The head sculpt looks very elongated here, face looks stretched so does the jaw and chin. It totally lacks any bone structure, which is why it has that soft look, thus, making it look very toyish like a doll.

These were just taken today on a much better camera.

The only difference between the proto pic and the pics I've taken is that in my pics, her hair is a bit more glossy and they are under completely different light schemes.

Personally I think you are in denial, I am pretty sure most people that own this would agree the sculpt is off to some extent. That doesn't mean the sculpt sucks, it just could have been better, the head shape is off as it longer and skinnier than the proto and it practically has no defined bone structure, (specifically the cheek bones) and your pics clearly prove that. This is due to the sculpt getting warped/stretched and losing details during the conversion process from the resin cast to PVC when casting for mass production, which is a common occurrence. The cheek bones were way more pronounced in the proto.

Look at these shots.

The difference is not as obvious when seen on the profile shot though and I will admit that the sculpt looks closer to the proto when seen from the profile than it does on any other angles.

BTW I don't mean to bash the statue, it happens to be my favorite statue in my collection but IMO it looks nothing like the proto and this does bother me to some extent. Believe me I wish it did look like the proto, bad sadly it looks way off IMO. :(

Quite a beautiful statue. If only money & space were not a concern...

Money is an issue as this is very pricey now but space isn't. This statue is rather small, so if size is one of your main reasons not to buy it, I would tell you that is a non issue because it doesn't take up much space at all, unlike most 1/4 scale statues.

We will just have to agree to disagree then. Because I think she looks phenomenal. It is, IMO, the Marilyn collectible to have. The only thing that would have made it even more superb would have been if she were done in the pink dress from Diamonds are a Girls Best Friend. Maybe some day Blitzway will make that version.

That's great, I am glad she lives up to your expectations. BTW I was not trying to convince you not to like it, just pointing out the problems that bother me with it, which you consider minor or non existent and that is fine. That being said I still can't understand how you think she looks perfect but each to their own.

Oh I totally agree, like I said it's my favorite statue and I have quite a few. I sometimes shove other statues in other rooms or back in their boxes or out of the way but I never plan to remove Marylin from where she is. :wink1:

Yeah that would be cool, especially with those pink gloves and silver necklace and bracelets , it would look even more elegant than this one.

I like the gold but any outfit on Marilyn would be great. I still think this is the best female sculpt in terms of a life-like appearance to date. We're lucky to have her in our collection and she must be pretty sought after with those terrible-quality obvious replicas of her coming from China on ebay. Blitzway needs to bring us more 1/4 scale sooner than later. They do an outstanding job...

"Sexy goddess" what a joke of a recast:

Personally I think Hot Toys produces more realistic looking sculpts but the heads on most look fake because of the "real" hair they use. Basically most of Hot Toy's female figures look like glorified Barbie dolls.

She was sort after before that, BBTS jacked up the price from 350 (RRP) to 499, only after months after she was released. Ironically, BBST is now the cheapest place you can buy her for. However, she is still sitting there for 499, so the demand must not be as high as it use to be as I once saw her sell for over $1000 USD on ebay.

I really hate recast, and wish there was a rule that prevented eBay from selling them.

I LOVE this statue. Will never sell it. Best Marilyn statue for the dollar out there. Visually stunning in person and A+ craftsmanship all around.

I agree it looks better in person, the sculpt looks softer and thus, less defined in pictures than it does in hand.

Space limitations, and the realization that when just about all of your statues are superheroes, Marilyn might look a bit out of place.

Ok that makes sense.

I've got one for $425 shipped if anyone is interested. Never opened.

If you've never opened and inspected it, I would consider it. My first piece from BBTS came sealed, and her leg was broken off - as in the non-peg leg was cast separately and glued on, and the whole leg was loose in the box. Not sure if it was just a one-time random occurence, but worth noting to anyone who has a sealed piece.

But then I might fall in love with it and have to keep it!

Agree with you 100 percent. There's nothing female-sculpt wise that beats the realism and quality of this yet. Worth every penny.

What is a good way to fix the lean on this statue? It's also pretty wobbly. Not exactly a seasoned statue collector so what are you guys using to fix this?

There are probably more elegant solutions out there, but I'm just using a foam core shim under her heel to reduce the lean... It's stiff enough to provide support without damaging the base or her heel.
