Re: Blitzway - 1/6 Scale Ghostbusters - Collectible Figures and ECTO-1

It depends with what you actually want. Flossie's has payment plans for both the single figures AND the 4 pack and 3 pack so I went with them. I've been paying on an Egon. Timewalker is great too though. I've been to their store and they're VERY high end and professional and fair. I bought my 3 zero Heisenberg from them.

BW posted this in the comments of their GB facebook post:

"Ecto 1 is not ready yet. The one we made first was not good enough to show you, and we are still working on it. It is no use if we show you crap. Please wait till we are ready.
Dont worry about the license.
Thanks"

What a weird post. But hey, I guess "It is no use if we show you crap" is just tellin' it like it is.:rotfl

Better to be honest than keep people in the dark, a la HT.

Re: Blitzway - 1/6 Scale Ghostbusters - Collectible Figures and ECTO-1

Uh oh... Soldier Story strikes back.

If there's a noticeable price difference, it will indeed be a strike against BW.

While SS's prices vary a lot (from $150-ish to $200-ish for a very elaborate fig) my guess is their GB figs will probably undercut BW by only $20-30. They are very complex figs with die-cast packs and a licensing fee too. But quality-wise they will likely be close to on-par with BW (in terms of boots and packs, possibly better.)

I think based upon the pictures of the SS figures it will be like comparing Sideshow Collectibles Star Wars (Soldier Story) to Hot Toy Star Wars...I would have a hard time finding someone who thinks that Sideshow's Heroes of the Rebellion Bespin Luke can even be remotely compared to the excellent Hot Toys DX07. Take another look at Soldier Story's "Venkman" and I think it effectively closes the case of whether or not there will be parity between the two sets of Ghostbusters. I mean really are they crazy releasing that Venkman....they do know that he was played by Bill Murray and not...well whoever that head sculpt of theirs is supposed to look like???

Re: Blitzway - 1/6 Scale Ghostbusters - Collectible Figures and ECTO-1

That IS a weird post. Probably smart not to show it off if they don't think it's perfect, though, after the whole Fight Club thing. There's probably a lot of people waiting to jump on any flaw after that. I like complaining, so it's a little disappointing they're not showing it, but it's a smart move :lol

The ss venkman sculpt is not that bad. He still looks like venkman in my books. Its just a bit off is all. Even the blitzway venkman is a bit off also. None of them perfectly represent the character seen on screen. I think ss egon is better then blitzways egon though. The SS proton packs seem to have more features also. So ill probably get the egon from ss.

I've bought SS figures for years and their apps and sculpt detail have been close to HT all that time. Comparing an old Sideshow figure to SS just says you don't have experience with SS figures. And the BW Durden has proven that BW in reality isn't the same as the "idea" of BW in people's heads.

And no, the SS Venkamn isn't great at all but frankly, the BW Venkman is no bullseye either.:dunno

As has been mentioned in the other thread, I hope Jnix has a go at Venkman.

I don't want to de-rail the thread but my friend you lost me at comparing Sideshow favorably to Hot Toys...I owned almost the entire Star Wars line and desperately tried to fall in love with each figure as it arrived...I lied to myself about them a lot (I'm talking to you Bespin Han, ANH Han, Leia) the list goes on...the moment Hot Toys got the license I sold a room full of them quicker than you can say "Heroes of the Rebellion!" Most accounts are that the Blitzway Tyler Durden is pretty amazing in hand too...so I guess this, like the question of Blitzway vs Soldier Story will all come down to individual tastes and individual standards of what constitutes a high end figure for your money...

Re: Blitzway - 1/6 Scale Ghostbusters - Collectible Figures and ECTO-1

The post about Ecto-1 was in response to posts saying BW had conned people into buying the figures by announcing ecto-1 at the same time and the criticism of the Tyler figure...

Re: Blitzway - 1/6 Scale Ghostbusters - Collectible Figures and ECTO-1

Blitzway ****ed up with Tyler. I'm seeing superior repaints all over the place.

Re: Blitzway - 1/6 Scale Ghostbusters - Collectible Figures and ECTO-1

I never have an issue if more time means better quality. I'd rather someone take the extra time and get it right rather than push it out pronto, but it leaves much to be desired. It's a good trade off.

Many people want top notch quality but want it now.

Re: Blitzway - 1/6 Scale Ghostbusters - Collectible Figures and ECTO-1

Surprised about the Tyler paintjob, Blitz usually do better work than this from what I've seen.

Re: Blitzway - 1/6 Scale Ghostbusters - Collectible Figures and ECTO-1

Good to have honesty and directness from a 1/6 company for once. :lol Most refreshing.

SS = Soldier Story, not Sideshow...

Of course... I am actually drawing a comparison between Sideshow and Hot Toys both having the Star Wars license to Blitzway and Soldier Story both having the Ghostbusters license The fact that I am comparing Soldier Story to Sideshow and both of their initials are SS is just an unfortunate coincidence.

Re: Blitzway - 1/6 Scale Ghostbusters - Collectible Figures and ECTO-1

I thought SS was "sorry sucker"...?

Or "sad sack"....

Or Stephanie Saracino... my jr high school crush.

Not sure what you mean by any of that.:dunno

EDIT: oh, cmiller just pointed out your confusion SS vs SSC. But you actually lied to yourself about the Alec-Baldwin-in-pancake-make-up-wearing-a-badly-tailored-Han-Bespin-outfit Sideshow figure?:lol

Re: Blitzway - 1/6 Scale Ghostbusters - Collectible Figures and ECTO-1
