Re: Blitzway - 1/6 & 1/12 Scale Ghostbusters - Collectible Figures and ECTO-1
I've wanted Ghostbusters for many years -- have all the Mattel guys waiting to be rebuilt -- but this franchise requires at least three figures to even start a GB collection... and Blitzway has scared me off because of its pricing on Fight Club. Wasn't it $550 for two figures of the same guy?
Actually it was $500, but who's counting?
The difference here is the same thing we got with the DX Bespin Luke, that was $150 per fig in a time when HT figs were $180ish. We're getting essentially the same exact figure four times with different heads. You take advantage of economies of scale, same uniform, same boots, same huge accessory, just four different heads.
If I told the factory to make me 4,000 Proton Packs, it'd be $4,000, but if I told them make me 16,000 Packs, it'd be $12,000. So, unlike Durden where it's almost entirely two unique figures, there's a bunch of re-use here, which SSC used to drive down the costs of the Clone Troopers and Jedi earlier on in the run. I honestly wouldn't expect the price to be completely out of bounds. The real driving factor here is the engineering of the Proton Pack.
I expect $250 per fig, but a more significant discount for a 4-pack. like maybe $800 instead of $1,000. Or rather that's what I would like to see, and what I think is the smarter business move, giving a substantial discount for a larger financial commitment is going to lead to more revenue in the long run, but we don't see a lot of discounts like that in the hobby, so who knows??
