Re: Blitzway - 1/6 Scale Ghostbusters - Collectible Figures and ECTO-1

Can we get someone to do a repaint job on winston?

Re: Blitzway - 1/6 Scale Ghostbusters - Collectible Figures and ECTO-1

I cropped in even further on one of my previous pictures of Winston. As you can see, in my opinion the sculpt is really good. Just needs a repaint.

Hopefully some skilled "repainter" will offer a Winston repaint service for a decent price as I won't even able to do the the repaint myself but i will wait and see how he looks on my shelf before I would decide if I want a repaint.

I'll be doing that shortly after I get mine. Needs to be done.

Would like to see you work when you are done. Def interested. I am not much of a painter myself.

I would love to know why the delays in the first place, did they ever say? Was it the sculpts? Paint application? or Accessories?

Regarding Winston and Venkman, I can't wait for the "He looks so much better in hand" comments to start pouring in.

Happens. Every. Time. :lol

They went overboard with the burnt umber on top of the shiny coat.

It’s two batteries per proton pack. Size 2032

Thanks for that! I'll be sure to have 8 batteries ready to go for when they arrive. Is it the same batteries for the light up sign?

Re: Blitzway - 1/6 Scale Ghostbusters - Collectible Figures and ECTO-1

When going back and looking at the original BW proto pics, the lighting is not as natural as IAMTOYS video and pictures. The lighting seems a lot warmer and with back lighting showing the sculpted details. Even looking closer at Winston I'm seeing the reddish color coming through. I wonder if under a similar warmer light they would look more like the proto and take away the shine that is on Winston's face.

No, those take three AAA batteries I believe.

Yeah its not so much the likeness to Murray which I think is pretty decent. Its more how different the final product looks in those pics compared with the picture of the proto. Maybe more futzing is needed to expose the neck more :dunno

I wonder what happens to the proto figs. Some lucky person got them.

Yeah to me the biggest issue with Venkman is how short his neck appears to be now (which is the same problem the Ripley figure has). It's throwing off the proportions and making his head look wider and fatter than it probably really is.

That's because it's true every time. I've never understood why people will judge a figure based on close-up Macro pictures, or most pics for that matter. There are definitely a few collectors who take great shots, but (without getting technical) cameras are absolute, and your eyes/brain interpret subjectively and in 3 dimensions. It never looks exactly the same. And since the sculptors/creators of the figures are using their eyes when sculpting etc., in-hand the figs usually look the way the artists intended them to look.

Re: Blitzway - 1/6 Scale Ghostbusters - Collectible Figures and ECTO-1

These are just like Tyler Durden - a DISASTER!

Re: Blitzway - 1/6 Scale Ghostbusters - Collectible Figures and ECTO-1

Durden is a flawed figure in the paint department. Some people want to see that figure with rose tinted glasses, but assuming you are discerning enough to know the impact of a camera with flash, flat/bright lighting in general, static angles, and no futzing, the early pics were representative of what we got. I presume the same here.

Someone who has the time will make a killing on Winston re-paints...

Mere curiousity, what are some figures that you guys actually think are genuinely good figures all around, and look at it through rose tinted glasses?

Re: Blitzway - 1/6 Scale Ghostbusters - Collectible Figures and ECTO-1

Durden is a really nice figure, but the knee jerk, "anyone who judges based on early pics is an ***** because this is a masterpiece!" responses are as bad as the ones that think a figure is garbage because of early pics with bad lighting and no futzing. The reality is somewhere in the middle, but everyone is polarized by something nowadays.

I would say that Durden's paintwork is like a lesser Hot Toys paint job. One of my most recent HT figures is Dr. Strange, and it's much better than Blitzway's Durden attempt. My VTS/DAM Wasteland Ranger is also better. But Durden isn't too far removed from my police shootout T-800.
