Re: Boromir Maquette...Buy NOW!!. Links in 1st post !!.

The CC PF is an exceptional piece, and extraordinarily relevant to my formative years. I was the perfect age for the rebirth of G.I. Joe into the 3 3/4 line. So glad I didn't drop that preorder, although I toyed with the idea many times. I don't even think any subsequent PF's in the line can touch him.

With regard to LOTR, I am a far more casual fan than you, obviously. The maquette line is stunning, and a way for me to try to control or curb my collecting habit. It's been working so far, and I only stray out of the line for what I feel are exceptional pieces. You can really see a difference in my order page from only one year ago. But also we have the NRD to thank for that. I only have four items on order with Sideshow direct, and two from dealers, so I'm being very well behaved. Really, only three with SS once Gimli gets here.

I may not order the next maquette unless it is Hobbits. I want the full Fellowship in this line, then can pick and choose from there on out. But I get that sense that they better not release the full Fellowship for fear of peoples' interest in the line tapering off at that point.

Damned if you do, damned if you don't. :D

He looks really good no doubt about it. GI Joe is one of my faves from my childhood but I'll stick to the 1:6th when I make a purchase there.

Nothing wrong with being a casual fan and you seem to want to know more about the subject. Well, if those two things have helped you be better then that's a good thing.

I would love to see one set of the Hobbits be next but if not I'll place my order and hope the next item is a set of Hobbits. Now, I think if they release the Hobbits people will only jump on more. So far I think SS character selection has been great and Hobbits or someone like Eomer would be perfect.

Re: Boromir Maquette...Buy NOW!!. Links in 1st post !!.

You know, that is the other side of the coin. All nine Fellowship characters available for purchase, or being able to be hunted down, and then there is a solid base or platform that shows Sideshow is very serious about the line. Not that I see any indication that they aren't. So even if there are only seven, with a pending pair of Hobbits, then the line may pick up even more momentum than we have already seen, and there will be no stopping it!

Yeah, I wish I had a lot more time to read the actual LOTR. I'm still only on my way into Moria, but have to put it aside again in lieu of school starting back up on Tuesday...

Still, what an amazing read thus far. I only got into LOTR when I saw the first preview back in what? 1999? Then I went out and picked up the physical book, but only read to Tom Bombadil. Now I have it on my Nook so it's always in my bag, but there are all these other heavy books on Radiation Therapy in there that just demand too much attention...

:lol

Re: Boromir Maquette...Buy NOW!!. Links in 1st post !!.

Yeah, I think for some that still are apprehensive a set of hobbits as an announcement would calm those fears. The more mo the better for this line and what LOTR fans want to see.

Well, hopefully you can mix in a chapter or two a week when you're not reading text books. It would make for a nice break I would venture to guess.

Reading the books are awesome. Such great work within those pages and when coupled with images from the movie its win/win. Hell reading the appendices and reading the books enhances the movies.

Re: Boromir Maquette...Buy NOW!!. Links in 1st post !!.

How will Sideshow make the small colorfull details on Boromir's flag?

Painting them is impossible, but decals would suck, too. :/

Re: Boromir Maquette...Buy NOW!!. Links in 1st post !!.

I would imagine painting them on would be the choice on this one, but decals wouldn't be bad to be honest. They will use nice high end type decals not something you'd get at wal-mart.

Part of the reply from Sideshow:

"Thank you for contacting our Customer Service Department on 2/10/12. I believe that everything is hand-painted on Arwen and Boromir."

I'm sure Arwen's eyebrows are not.

I tried to peel the eyebrows off, as my replacements are on their way.
Not possible. Maybe they used patterns or stamps.

You could always paint them out Boromir...are you having a go at repainting her?

Let us know how you get on.

Christmas, Gimli Maquette and Arwen Maquette put a huge dent in my wallet. :thud:

I was really looking forward to seeing this guy sooner, but I guess I'll live. :lol

Got another answer to my request mail:

Thank you for your patience as we have been investigating your inquiries.
I have confirmed with our production team that the eyebrows on the Arwen Maquette are decals.
I have also confirmed that our upcoming Boromir Maquette will in fact have a hand painted flag.

Re: Boromir Maquette...Buy NOW!!. Links in 1st post !!.

Bill- yeah, I'd love to get it sooner but it gives us something to look forward to.

Boromir- the flag on the Boromir statue is a beauty.

Re: Boromir Maquette...Buy NOW!!. Links in 1st post !!.

Just been offered the chance to convert my waitlist exclusive into an order but had to decline - for some reason it wasn't down as Flexpay!
Oh well, i just got a bill through from Fedex for my Legolas maquette ( But i didn't get any charges for Strider. Weird.) so i think, if i really like the photos people will post on here as i'm sure i will, i'll have to look into getting it locally.
Damn you non-EU warehouse! :cuss
