Boromir looks to be the best one yet. The likeness looks really good, and I can't wait to see him in hand. I too am bummed out that they didn't make the fur-lined cloak, but my fiance said she would sew one for me! Since these are production shots, maybe Boromir is arriving sooner! D'oh! Just got my newsletter, as the interwebs crapped out at home last night! Good news about Boromir!

I was seriously considering dropping this line, but after seeing these pics I don't think I can do it. Maybe once we get some more PF's, but right now this is shaping up to be a great, great line.

This one will probably be the best 12" LOTR announced so far (from the neck down).

I never saw the resemblance to Sean Bean in either the production pics or SDCC/TF pics, either. I will say that the production pics appear to be exactly like those seen before, so we will get what we've seen, and that is cool.

But I honestly don't see Bean there. The "essence" of Boromir? Certainly!

Anyone on the wait list for it? I am. I'd like to find out if anyone's has converted and when you got on the wait list. I want to know if I have a chance of getting one.

Sadly I can't help you though...there's NO WAY I'm cancelling my Exclusive!

I think he looks pretty good, though I still rue the fact that he didn't come with his fur-lines black cloak. I'll have to sew one myself it seems.

Now where's Faramir?!?!?!

Although I run the risk of helping people decide not to cancel, I think the production photos of the head are better than the prototype. I thought that his complextion looked too reddish... like he was sloshed.

As for the sculpt, I think Oluf did an outstanding job. Sideshow's Production Blog had some great comparsion photos awhile back (May 25, 2006) of the sculpt with the actor that were rather impressive.

Not that this should dissuade ANYONE from cancelling him.

I think it looks good! Can't wait till I get to add him to my collection. Once again I think this will be a case of 'he looks so much better in person'. Seems to be a pattern.

Phase one (proto-type): He looks good but not great. He's too orangy looking. He looks like Theoden. His hair is too dark.

Phase two (production piece): Ugh he looks horrible!!! Worst one yet of the 12-inch line. I'm cancelling or have cancelled. <insert more annoyed discussion here>

Phase three (Product in hand): He looks so much better in person. The detail is fantastic. Best 12-inch figure yet.

No, it's not always like that but so far it's been the same pattern for Aragorn and Legolas. And so far Boromir is shaping up to go down in the same phases.

Can't wait till phase two and three for Faramir!!!

A custom cloak is really easy, just find a thin velvet like material, then find a short fur (for scale it can't be long). Cut the hem a little longer than the elvish ones, and add a clasp--really it's one of the easiest customs to do. I'll show pics once I'm finished. All I need are some good clasps........

Actually I think phase two has gone quite smoothly so far, his production pics look better than the other two.

My only gripe would be his costuming, it definately will need a bit of "roughing-up," as it stands it is like he just got his new Gondorian duds.

at the same time as I got in touch with my local supplier to cancel my Jabba setup and Bib... i was going to cancel Legolas and Boromir too, but my fiancee wouldnt let me saying "you made your Aragorn so amazing..... you have to do the same for these"

Boromir looks great. People will be very happy with him I think. Of course I'll touch him up here and there........ wait... that sounded wrong........

I think it looks great, SS is definitely trying not to give us another Aragorn.

I think he'll be amazing in hand... SSC has stepped up their paint apps, at least since Maul was released, and we all saw how great Legs turned out...

Exactly, after Legolas, I can almost care less about SSC's photos unless they look great because that means actual in hand will look better than great, but if they're so so, I won't judge til in hand...I nearly cancelled Legolas over his images and I'm extremely glad I didn't pull the trigger, I can't wait to see how Boromir is, I hope his wrist gauntles will slip over Aragorn's duster for a little end of FOTR action.

But this really resembles Boromir

and maybe now a PF Boromir ?? Would be great !
