I think it is disappointing that the new factory couldn't make it with the shinier paint shown in the prototype photos. But I guess Bowen giving those who ordered it opportunity to cancel their orders is very gentleman and fair.
 
Update in the thread at Statue Forum. This is quoted directly from Randy Bowen when asked what the status of the statue is:

Yes.

We just received new paint samples from the factory. They are 20% better, but not as metallic looking as the prototype.

We're probably going to have to pull the project and give it to another factory. It will be late.

Kudos to Randy for making this call. I'm sure delaying the project will cost him in some form or another. But I'm sure most collectors would rather wait a bit longer and get the better product. I know I would!
 
Randy is the F'n man. i dont care about a delay i just want it to look as much like the proto as possible.
