Just curious how many of you care about the condition of your boxes? For me, the Hot Toys boxes are absolute works of art and I just can't bring myself to purchase one unless the box is near perfect. I just bought an Avengers Iron Man MK VII on Ebay and specifically asked the seller if the box had any damage. He claimed it was mint. It arrived today and has a fairly large crease on one side of the sleeve. Anyone have an MK VII sleeve they want to sell? I have a local contact for my future Hot Toys purchases, so getting Mint boxes shouldn't be a problem, but there are a number of older figures that I still need and I'm tired of rolling the dice with Ebay sellers.

Minor corner/edge damage is ok IMO, but major damage is an issue. Going to be very hard to get "mint" boxes though as many are not packed out when purchased new.

Yea I'm a big fan of the box art myself. I think they are fantastic. I'm not super uptight about perfection. Normal shelf wear is generally not something I worry to much about. But a crease would bother me. That defeats the whole purpose. It damages the artwork. I'd ask for a return and see what he says, if it's a big deal. Otherwise you may end up having to buy a whole box of that's an issue.

I've been really lucky in that I've never received a banged up box. I'm not sure if I would be too angry if I did, as long as the figure was ok, but I do appreciate the art boxes and I'd never flatten them or anything to save space.

As a collector that has been doing this since the mid 70's I have learned to not really care about the boxes

I personally don't care about boxes when I buy figures, but in my own custom work I'm fanatical about how packages look and are made. Weird duality I guess.

Don't really care too much about the boxes. I carefully store them but if they come to me with creases it's not a big deal. I'm more a stickler about imperfections on the figure itself. But if you're buying older figures just remember they will most likely have some kind of shelfware like dents or creases.

I'm moving and I made the decision to throw out some of the boxes. I bought a bin from target and wrapped up my figures and accessories. I saved a ton of space and I have less anxiety about collecting now. Still, I threw out the boxes of a lot of figures like winter soldier, star lord, spiderman 3, mandarin, zod and jorel. I know they're not hot sellers but I wanted to keep them and ditching the box was worth it because I got to keep all the figures.

I don't really care. I like having the boxes for the purpose of storage, and it helps when I sell something, but other than that. . .

Robbie's packaging is a thing to behold though. What he did with Danny's trike--wow! Got shipped to Korea, then back to my home in pristine condition.

The only thing I care about is they protect the figures inside, after that they just get bagged and go into the roof.

I like the boxes and won't ever buy a HT without it, even the brown shipper. I think it adds to the value of the collectible.

I like to have and keep my boxes in mint condition. Some shelf wear might occur so I don't go too crazy with it when I order or buy something online. But I don't want a smashed up box either. I tend to display my figures with their boxes because the art is spectacular and I also consider the idea of resale if I ever wanted to sell one. So I'm not a total Nazi about my boxes but I do keep them as nice as I can and I expect them to come in near mint condition.

Couldn't care less. Too many people in these hobbies care more about the shape of the box than what is actually inside of it. Like POP collectors complaining about a ding in the corner or not having a sticker.

I usually just take the figure & accessories that I want out, put everything back in shipper and call it a day. I'm not terribly concerned with condition but I'm also not throwing things around haphazardly either.I've seen some nice displays that incorporate the boxes though.
Not sure if the member who started this thread is the same person, but I was selling a Mark 7 on ebay recently and had someone request detailed pics of just the box itself, so I do understand some people's desire for mint boxes, there was just the slightest ding on a corner so the buyer went elsewhere.
