As reported by TV Shows on DVD, the Back to the Future trilogy will be returning to cinemas in October for the 30th anniversary!

Also, the animated series — original planned for release in 2010 for the 25th anniversary — will finally be getting a DVD release. And there's the option of buying it with the trilogy in special Flux Capacitor packaging...

BTTF is one of my favorite movies, but I never cared for the cartoon, even as a kid. I recall it having shoddy animation, and the stories must have been pretty crappy not to keep my attention being a pretty big BTTF fan. I could even stomach the terrible Teen Wolf cartoon now and then.

BTTF co-writer and producer Bob Gale said at Comic-Con recently that the cartoon wasn't canon, but added that "anything is possible" with time travel and alternative timelines.

Now he's written a comic book mini-series due in October, that shows events "between the scenes" and in the alternative timelines of the movies.

Be interesting to know if the Tell Tale game series is counted as canon. That was a worthy continuation of the saga IMO.
