I'm not sure if its just me or what, but cable appears to have better image quality vs Dish. Is there a diference in image quality between thew two??

Any thoughts on this?

Cable should technically have more bandwidth/less compression than dish so it should look better and not have blocking or picture break up.

I was going to post this question. Whether it's better to get a dish or digital cable. My regular cable bill is almost $60 now.

I can say without a doubt that Directv looks better than Comcast cable. However, with Directv you have to deal with the occasional outage during bad weather. I would go insane if that happened even for a second during a major even. YES, I know that cable can go out. However, it is far less frequent. But again, yes. Dish looks alot better. I also think they broadcast in 1080P. As far as I know Comcast in my area at least is 720P.

i've never had a dish but the cable bill is getting huge! may sign up for one of those best buy deals to save a chunk on a new tv.

I have comcast and every other month they are raising the bill. They claim its because of the people in my neighborhood switching to Satellite. like thats my problem.

Comcast... its Craptastic.

You know what you do? Threaten to leave! My triple play package ended. They raised my bill to like $200 a month. Guess what it is now? I have cable, phone, highspeed internet, and all the movie channels for $99.

WOW Thats awesome. My bill was the same thing and I dropped HBO and their phone to get my bill down to $100 (Cable and internet). But thats a great deal that you got.

Just call them and ask them how much internet costs by itself. They will ask you why. Tell them that you are ditching them and going to directv. They offered me that immediately. However, you cannot be in a current contract. If you are then it won't work.

I may have too. Doesnt make any sense to pay $100 and only get Digital Cable and internet.

I also got rid of their phone service because I had problems making calls.

problem with Direct TV is you pay for a receiver and then have to turn it in when you leave them...b.s.

I've got a bundle package (internet, cable, phone) and I can't wait to drop it when my contract ends in May. It's $150 for all 3 services (I get all of the HBO stations and High Def is "free" as part of the cable service...I get no DVR and only 1 cable box). Frankly, I've grown tired of the cable company and this high bill. It's just not worth it to me. There are no other cable companies. There is the Dish Network and Verizon Fios (which would be even more expensive) in the area...and thats about it.

I only use the phone line to fax my paperwork to the office from home (I don't use the landline). I hardly watch TV anymore...yet I use the internet constantly. If I want to terminate my contract with the cable company, they said it's an extra $180. When it expires I'd assume keep the internet service and drop the phone line & cable (I'd just get basic cable if it's cheap enough). I'm looking into the MagicJack for phone use for the fax at this point :lol.

On Monday, I am leaving Time Warner cable, who I've been with for years, and switching to AT&T's Universe service. It's like Verizon Fios and packages my phone, internet and HD TV. Includes the new DVR that will allow me to watch it on any tv in the apt. I have this package now with Time Warner but for $40 more.

It's supposedly all fiber-optic, with a better pic quality and faster internet. All for $140 a month.

We'll see how it goes...

I cancelled cable a few months ago...
we mostly watch movies and our favorite TV shows are on open TV... if there's a cable show we're interested in, we wait for it on DVD...
