It sounds like it might have been a cool scene buy Hawkeye's likability has been on life-support for a while now and I don't think that would have helped. He was ordered to get ready to take out Thor in Thor, then Loki used him to attack the Avengers, THEN he was going to be instructed to go after Cap? I think that would have been a bit much for what little heroism and dignity his character still has left.
That scene would have given us more of that than anything else we've seen thus far.
Well that would depend on execution IMO. They would need to effectively show that Hawkeye had no choice but to act and deceive SHIELD, but that could be done.
It would have made Hawkeye look dimwitted to see through the BS and help Cap?
And then Cap took him down and he realized for the first time that Hawkeye was trying to trick S.H.I.E.L.D, where he whispered something into Cap’s ear that Cap had a tracker on his suit and to punch Hawkeye to make it look real, because there was a Quinjet hovering above where they were watching the feedback back at S.H.I.E.L.D. So it was a cool sequence.

Dimwitted to NOT help him, but to be against him at any point. Did you not read the original post? Seriously this reply comes after a post that clearly says the opposite of what you're insinuating. Is there an eclipse today?
