Because this is right up there with Bri Larsen and her gaffe about saying a movie isn't for u people more or less. And who doesn't love the way Steve Rogers was presented on screen who had been weak physically and remained a good man etc. Warm fuzzies!

That guy is about as patriotic as the current MCU version so why not, lol.
I mean, these films just set themselves up for mass ridicule. For obvious reasons. It's gonna happen. Thinking it isn't or shouldn't happen is a reach imo.
I think that people who were already intending to see this understand what he actually meant. Chris Evans said something similar when he took on the role, Mackie just used less poetic language. This is very much navel gazing and noise generated by some people in the USA. So here's his successor who on screen had said there was no better reason to get back in because CAPTAIN AMERICA needed his help - who really needed to recover the ball after the limp TFAWS - fumbling on stage and deflating any small enthusiasm people might have had. Like, what do you even say about such a lame comment. Lol he needs to do better
