Yep. Read that ealirer.

I do not believe it escapes the fingers I'm pointing at it.

In fact, it only highlights the issues with Anthony speaking on the film, if anything. He's OK. And I hope this film made him lots of money.

Nobody blames him for this. But he has to live with the words he spoke. The optics of it. That's on him.
Why are there "issues with AM speaking on the film" that he is headlining??

People also need to recognize that he made the comment while in Rome during a press junket for the film. At a time when our country's leader has defining character traits that are indisputably antithetical to those of Captain America, it's understandable that Mackie would put less emphasis on the word America when trying to appeal to European fans. And as others have mentioned, if Chris Evans had said those same words no one here would bat an eye.

Yeah, that dog don't hunt. Sorry.

You know as well as I, that the publics interpretation of his comments were gonna be under a microscope. Which begs the question, why?

Chris Evans *has* said worse. He's an idiot and I don't want him back either. But his portrayal of the character was at least in the context of good to great films.
And yet many here seem to have decided this movie sucks before seeing it. Something tells me people would be singing a different tune if Evans was still in the role. If it walks like a duck and talks like a duck...

p.s. - No, I'm not saying The Ducky has returned to our flock lol...

Well, it's made by the guy who made the terrible Falcon/WS TV show, the trailers don't look too hot and it's been reshot 87 times due to abysmal test screenings so...that makes it kind of heart to keep an open mind about it, lol.

Evans being in the role would flop too. They ended his story. From a story board perspective, without some Multiverse nonsense, it wouldn't work.

Evans Cap is and forever will be done. It's over. Want Cap back? Well it's not gonna happen with Evans. That ship has sailed. And I'm personally happy with his story arc. A beginning and an end.

Want a REBOOT the MCU? Sure, but Evans version of the character is done, unfortunately. They literally did a GOOD job on his arc.

You cannot keep the same version/actor of a character FOREVER. At least his had a solid wrap up.

Edit: This also doesn't mean I require a Black man playing the character for virtuous reasons. It's not organic. It's wack and we're not actually as stupid as you think we are.

It's trash when they do that. And don't ever feel shy or undecided on calling them out for it. They ******* deserve it.

Hmph.

Same thing with Iron Man. Nobody is topping RDJ. It's too soon and will be too soon for.. some time.

Those two characters are DONE. Cap and Iron Man are benched for the foreseeable future if they know what's good for their bottom line.

Who, Spellman? He didn't direct this and is only one of 5 credited writers so I'm hoping his influence has been reduced proportionately. Now if he had complete artistic control of this it would give me pause too lol.

I personally think
I just want that blade movie they announced
He's 62 yrs old and his character will get the MCU treatment. The same lame ass treatment he got in Deadpool/Wolvie. Lame af aside from some awesome dialog.

Completely void of anything the original live action character had. Just a shell of himself in the MCU.

Pass.

Stop bringing back old actors playing GLORIOUS roles. It DOES NOT WORK.

Nah originally it was the Ali guy playing blade not snipes

Literally doesn't mean anything. Snipes was cast. Snipes is what we got.

The Snipes "MCU Balde" movie, if it happens, will be a failure of metric proportions imo. You can't catch lightning in a bottle that many times.

It's possible that Evans is going to return as Captain Hydra, possibly even being rejuvenated as a new actor after Secret Wars.

Maybe you’re right mr awesome. Maybe your right

Been saying it for years since the Mouse was virtue signaling and pandering for far too long. People go to the movies to escape reality, not have it be told in or lectured by masking it with familiar characters. TFaWS series was a massive fail and the SJW were in full control on that one. I get America is different than it from Cap’s origins, but we don’t need to be lectured of what we’re seeing in legacy media. Just give me a solid story with breadcrumbs leading up to Secret War. At the end these are aliens and alt universes we’re dealing with. Politics should be the last thing we should be getting with Disney films/shows. Rant over.

Don't worry Rogers will be back too!, (as the bad guy) to fight the New improved and correct Averageners.

Like with SW Disney Story-group, this new crop of "creators" for Marvel, didn't actually like the stuff you grew up with, they resented it, and they can't come up with anything new that is as popular, so instead want to "fix" = subvert what was/is popular. :lol
I guess post snappyverse, anything is possible:
Doomy Stark and now Steve whatever TF Captain Hydra is, will team-up

VS the New Avrageners? :lol

Falcon taking on the mantle of Cap was a bad call because it literally had not been foreshadowed in any of the million MCU movies. Bucky being the new cap would have absolutely worked and it would have continued his redemption arc. Like Steve he is a man out of time with old fashioned ideals about patriotism and America, only he has to reconcile with the dark side of international politics that he was very much an unwitting part of as the winter soldier. He has enhanced powers like Cap so no one is going to question whether he can catch a vibration shield or take a punch from a super powered villian.

Also it would have been infinitely more interesting to have tortured soul Bucky Cap trying to make amends whilst the public at large reject him despite the good he is doing. They could have brought in modern day politics by having fake news angles showing Bucky Cap in a negative light etc. Falcon should have stayed as Falcon as his comic foil as those two had such good comedic chemistry under better writers. You could have had Falcon exploring the civil rights angle if you wanted to, only handle the subject material more sensitively.

i stand by my general feeling in the theatre that Falcon Cap felt like an after thought with more than a hint of pandering. Falcon never needed to be Cap, he was already a really interesting character. Bucky needed to be Cap, now he is just the same old winter soldier only he is working for the US doing the same old espionage stuff that he did for Russia/ hydra - why would the character allow himself to he treated like that?
