Yeah as much as I think it's odd to have a Captain America without super strength, I think it totally fits with the Sam character that he wouldn't want to be injected with a serum cooked up by WWII scientists to become a super soldier.
Yeah, he's his own man, and his gimmick isn't being superpowered. And I think that is something that people can relate to. Go back to when he first showed up in the Winter Soldier movie and Cap is running laps around him. Clearly the audience is meant to relate to him in a comedic way there. He has skill, but also heart and will, and that does make him a great character. So, that seems reasonable to me that he wouldn't want to juice. Beyond that, we saw what happened when they attempted to replicate the serum before with Abomination, and I'm not sure I would be thrilled to sign up as a guinea pig for another try.

I think some of you are just picking this guy apart at this point. Sam was awesome as the Falcon and a big part of that was that he was "just a regular guy". Most of us loved Falcon and while some of his comments have been questionable, I think the commentary about being a regular person aren't bad. Honestly, a logical leap would be to load up with Stark nano-tech and still be the regular guy, but a super powered one...
Nah. At least not for me. IMO at least the MCU used to be genius at casting. Like, the actors they picked made me BELIEVE. Character after character was great casting.

And yeah we can all relate to the tragedies of Nat and Bucky because they started out as regular people but they didn't end up as regular people. They ended up " special". Even Hawkeye who stayed "regular" spent years killing apparently and has some sort of natural archer reflex.

Thing is Sam without the cheekiness and someone to play against is just a guy who's kinda dull, flying around in a suit. There's nobody special to cheer on which at times can end up with the audience rooting for the villain because they are a lot cooler. Mackie wasn't originally hired to be Cap, he was hired to be Falcon. It's not like Tony Stark either who was flawed, vulnerable, and ALSO a genius.

Will see but think Bucky would have been the better choice for reasons already posted. Plus a Falcon hanging around exasperatingly coping with Steve Rogers' now-Cap-former-assassin 1940s super soldier war buddy would have felt like a natural transition.

Personally I find Bucky to be FAR more dull a character now. When he's not being a killer assassin he's deadly boring to watch, at least in every post-CW appearance we've gotten so far. And hell even in the What If episode where he teams up with Red Guardian.

Sam can be pretty dull as well, but at least he's likable and knows how to crack a joke now and then. And he's also someone I care a lot more about frankly than Bucky. If Sam is nearly killed in a giant battle to the death with Red Hulk, I'm sure I'd feel that a lot more than if it was grim and moody Bucky.

Bucky IMO hasn't had a chance to be snarky or even that caring, really, and stay in character. The funniest he was allowed to be was the painful fake grin in TFAWS when he stopped that woman in the car.

&^^% writing anyway since Spellman & co. blew it, weighing everything down and nerfing Bucky, instead of comic-like snark between WS & Falcon. Jeez it could have been comic gold frenemy dynamic like the CW move your seat scene.

But, yeah, Mackie can definitely be fun; the question is will he be allowed to be, instead of pompous and finger waving, which don't think suits him. Waste of natural charm. But at least there's Thunderbolts for people like me to look forward to. 😁 Folks can say what they like, Bucky can glare with the best of them while he shoots off multiple rounds.:monkey3 Used to give me an excuse to hunt down extra weapons for my 1/6 Buckys but now even those costs went up.:monkey2
