I hated how they scrapped the bottom of the barrel with some characters and put out z list stuff and thought we would run and watch them. That eternals crap was embarrassing.

Eh Eternals was underwhelming and forgettable, but I wouldn't say embarassing. There wasn't anything that had me cringing inside like with Marvels and Thor 4, and it didn't look super cheap like those movies did.

Eternals was a big swing and a miss, but by then Marvel had earned the benefit of the doubt with how they’d made global stars of a talking raccoon & walking tree in GoTG. Of course Guardians launched at the peak of the genre’s popularity & didn’t have to deal with superhero fatigue.

Tho I am looking forward to Thunderbolts and don't consider the characters z list. At worst it looks like popcorn fun with @ss kicking. Likeable cast.

Since the U.S. will be having a holiday, might check out Cap in theater unless the reviews are off the chart bad. Just don't wanna pay money for more lecturing or character assassinations like TFAWS accusing Steve of being insensitive and Sam completely forgetting he'd been a Veteran counsellor and Bucky is essentially a tortured POW as well as a skilled assassin and completely stupid stuff like not knowing there are lots of banks and credit unions - including FEDERAL credit unions after you lived in DC for years so you don't have to just deal with some small town 'cist bank and why wouldn't you shop for the best rates anyway. you stupid (*&^ like the Internet doesn't exist and you don't know how to use a computer but fly around in high tech suit.

Just sayin' too the line about "not being Steve Rogers/no I'm not" would have been so much better/more menacing and fun coming from Bucky. Just as well tho the character isn't being nerfed again by this showrunner. If I'm very lucky Zemo will make an appearance in a credit scene along with his valet.

Marvel needed a kicking after thinking they could write Tony and Steve out and we'd accept any new teams. I liked Eternals but the MCU has limped on without those two characters and only now is Marvel rectifying the situation.

I'm sure RDJ and Evans are glad too. If it weren't for Nolan casting RDJ in Oppenheimer, he probably would have called Marvel first begging to come back. Instead, he's getting 100 mil to play Doom.

Playing marvel rivals makes me realize that the mcu wasn’t really an mcu. When the mcu started they had like almost none of there characters. It was basically an avengers universe. They are lucky they got Spider-Man. Besides gotg and avengers. What else did they have? They didn’t incorporate street level heroes and they had no mutants and little cosmic characters. They are super lucky they got those fox rights back or else they’d have to make many more gambles with characters nobody really knows.
I remember people coping and saying marvel didn’t need Spider-Man or the fox characters back then . They are literally the foundation.

I actually like her character honestly. I never got the hate for her. Captain marvel was just there. She didn’t make an impact and she wasn’t the face of marvel like people were so scared of her being.
Again I think once Disney got those fox rights they now don’t care about her anymore. She’s not pushed as hard as she was. Besides who are you gonna chose to be the face of women in marvel. Her or the iconic storm? Come on

Yeah, Brie Larson is likable enough but she doesn’t quite have the gravitas that Carol exudes in the comics. I’ve said it before but Charlize Theron was the ideal casting choice for me. She was probably too old for Marvel’s liking but they had the tech available to de-age her as needed for the first film set in the 90s. There was a 20+ year jump in the timeline to her next MCU appearance so they could have aged her up from there without any issue.

Much agreed; I think you mentioned before, a younger Charlize Theron would be a perfect casting for Captain Marvel. (Shoot, yeah they could have de-aged her, but I guess it would have been too costly lol) Even so, I still really, really liked B.L. in the role (ok, a whole ton ).

TBF - IMO the script with the disrespect to the Avengers etc., trying to force this character to be THE most, the constant males-keeping-a-good-woman down (which could have been funny if used sparingly), didn't do the actors or the character any favors.

Marvel doesn’t understand is that new Cap is nothing more than Iron Man with wings it’s the same nano costume bull crap.

What TWS so perfect was that both main characters didn’t have nano freaking suits, it was hand to hand combat without instant armor.
