Sorry ... I haven't gotten to the Alita thread yet to talk about it. In short, I loved it. It was a joy to spend two hours in that world.
They're gone now. Here's a story about it:
Rotten Tomatoes Removes "Want To See" Score After CAPTAIN MARVEL And STAR WARS EPISODE IX Trolling
Well, Rotten Tomatoes has now removed the "Want To See" option altogether and are "doing it to more accurately and authentically represent the voice of fans, while protecting our data and public forums from bad actors."
*Lies*
A carefully chosen group of pre-screeners isn't "authentic". Only posting positive comments isn't authentic.
Then again, neither are reviews from people who haven't seen the movie yet

Wow, maybe Brie should stop doing press for this movie. Lol. Not that I agree with the trolls deliberately tanking the “want to see” score on RT either, but one thing begets the other. The problem with her brand of inclusivity is it requires marginalizing one group to elevate another. The above linked article fails to mention that part of this whole debacle. It’s not much of a stretch to say some of the comments she made were insulting to white males. While that may go over fine with some of the Hollywood crowd, there is a large swath of people who don’t appreciate it very much. Her personal politics aside it’s also just not very smart from a business standpoint either because white males buy movie tickets just like everyone else.
Then again, neither are reviews from people who haven't seen the movie yet and are trying to lower the score due to Brie's stupid verbal diarrhea.
It's even worse where Episode IX is considered.
Because there is money to be made in diversity, major franchise movies in the future will expectedly become more inclusive. Future Marvel movies, such as Eternals and Shang-Chi, future DC films like Birds of Prey, and more are expected to star women and ethnic minority characters in major roles. While there’s no stopping folks from being outraged about movies they haven’t seen, they just can’t do it on Rotten Tomatoes. That’s what Twitter is for.
This is a farce. RT changing their system due to the bad publicity of the movie Captain Marvel which is not from the movie itself but from its lead actress.
Don't forget it's partially due to Episode IX as well. The Mouse appreciates your compliance.

How bad was IX want to see ratings? I never looked.
Yeah, this does nothing to quell my suspicion that Disney has an extra cozy relationship with RT.
I guess The Lone Ranger and A Wrinkle in Time weren't part of that relationship.
To add insult to the injury, A Wrinkle in Time is so bad I couldn't even finish it. So those "old white guys" IMO were completely accurate.
I guess The Lone Ranger and A Wrinkle in Time weren't part of that relationship.
They weren't actually reviews though. It was just a poll that allowed people to say if they wanted to see the movie or not and to post comments as to why.
