Can anyone recommend a good jumping on point comic wise for this particular version of the character?

Her new costume/status quo started with the 2012 Captain Marvel comic that Kelly Sue DeConnick wrote. But assuming you don't want to go back that far you're probably better off checking out the current volume of Captain Marvel. It's only 5 or 6 issues in right now and should be getting its first trade paperback collection soon.

I haven't ordered because I'm waiting for in hand pics first. I can't afford to spend over $500 on something that could potentially be mediocre...I'm sure many people are just as cautious as I am.

She's hot but the trigger happy Mr. Green days are over. And the ES is way high, that's why it's not sold out.
Will wait out for a new Supergirl to add a new blond to his collection.

Yeah once they raised the PF minimum to $449.99 a statue stuff stopped selling out I think. Green Lantern, Lex Luthor, Captain Marvel, Gamora, Green Goblin, Phoenix. All EX's still in stock. I may be missing some others in there too.

Green Goblin doesn't have an EX but I believe he has the highest price tag in the bunch.

While I like statues selling out at a company (helps not to lose money in the aftermarket if you have to sell), my number one priority is buying great looking statues. I don't care much if they sell slow or fast, I just want them to look great on my display shelves.

I agree. I'd rather pay top dollar for a high quality mass produced statue than have a small ES, pay less and have poor quality. Obviously it's nice to have everything though.

Pose and body sculpt on this is amazing but I still haven't pre ordered lol. Unmasked head is beautiful so I guess I'll wait until the last possible moment maybe. Once they start shipping.

I can definitely understand your friend's approach. Honestly I am really tempted to order this and Dark Phoenix solely based on aesthetics alone (and I never do that).
I think they would look absolutely incredible together and are statues I can truly appreciate without having any deep knowledge of the characters. I know the basics of course but I am not a fan by any means.They look so, so good. Love the paint app, sculpt, everything. The colors are incredible and thinking of the two paired together makes me drool.
