Bought two Clone Wars Obi figures from Sideshow and used one to Kitbash AOTC and had an extra body left over. Decided to use that extra body to make Captain Rex to go along with the EX Obi's Holo.

Helmet is from the McDonalds Happy Meal, its a little big but any smaller it might not fit good enough over the figure head. I also still need to make the shoulder pad (kinda clueless on how to do it atm) and the skirt. I also ordered a Hasbro Jango so I would be able to use that head on this figure to have a more accurate Rex.

Im hoping the helmet size will look smaller once the shoulder pad is added, but if not then its still looks alright.

Some weathering added to the figure

tried luck on the skirt but it turned out bad, but then again it was a quick attempt at 5am.

At this time I have a pretty good idea on how to make the shoulderpad, but I am lost on how to make the skirt look decent, and how to attach it to the belt.

Looks good. Using the head from my 501st Koto on my extra Obi-Wan body. Until I get the custom helmet from AOTC. Weathering looks really good.

thanks guys, been up all night and decided to try again on the skirt

its not to bad but a few of the edges need to be straighten out some, and if I can find them I would like to add a button to the back of it to help keep them up (using bluetac atm).

quick/basic pic of current progress.

Made the shoulder pad today, and so far Im pretty happy with it. Though I think I can do better. Only things left to do before I can call him finished are:

Battle damage the Pauldron and Kama
Add the range finder to the helmt
Add gun holsters to the side of his legs/kama
Switch head for Jango's head when I get it

you should go for it, it's nice having a figure that is currently not official released. I started to think of getting another to make a fox or Cody.

You could maybe cover the pauldron in resin to give the plastic look, Though obviously while off the figure. Overall the figure looks great! and the Pauldron did end up helping to balance the size of the helmet

Care to get a liottle more in depth opn how you did the weathering, and how you got the helmet to fit the head?

Just got a good mixture of black paint and water, did a quick brush over the figure and then used some paper towel to whip it away after giving it a few seconds to begin to dry. If you take to long to start whipping it its gonna stay until you work it more with water and rubbing. Doing that right gives the armor a little dirty look to it, it normally works its way into cracks and such on its own, but you can whip into to help bring those parts out. Thats pretty much the basic of how to do it, its always best to do it yourself to find out own way. Pretty much the same way I did for my MC figure

The helmet was a Mcdonalds toy, I just had to dremel alot of the inside and remove the spring. Just gotta be carefully when working it though cause those helmets are thing once you get past the main parts of the inards.

Thanks, but I wasmainly talking about the blue for the stripes. It looks very nice how you have the paint semi chipped looking.

Thanks for the info on the helm. I may go buy me one of them helms just so I can paint up a Rex helm.

Oh, well to protect the parts I didnt want painted I used that painters tape to tape off the armor parts to leave the parts i wanted painted exposed. Painted those with a few layers to make sure it was a solid color (no transparent spots), let it dry some and then removed the tape. I then took a toothpick and gently/roughly scrapped away the paint to give it the battle damaged look. Just gotta spread it around and different looks so its not a perfect look to it. To make it easier remove the arm armor to make it easier to paint, and spray it down with some sealer before putting it back on, cause you dont wanna mess it up with all the rubbing between the shoulder pads/elbow pads.

Wow Ive been messing with this figure for this long? Here is an older picture of a new helmet and a temp jango head.

And here goes one from a few days ago. Got Rex head painted, but need to go back and lighten up the hair some, its not as bright as the pic shows though.

Cut up the "skirt" some to damage it up more, just need to dirty up the shoulder gear and finish a few details on the back of the helmet and Im done I think.

I might do another Rex if I can get a Medi AOTC Clone, but until then I think not.

I darkened the hair from the bright yellow it was to a darker yellowish brown color. Still left some bright parts in it so it wouldnt be a flat darker color. Also damaged painted the Shoulderpad and Holsters. Also finally finally finished painting the helmet, although I still need a rang finder.

think im at like 95% completetion now.

Not bad! You're missing the yellow lines above the visor...then again it is a WIP.

Took the range finder from a spare Boba helmet I had, since my custom mando isnt gonna need it. And after picture was taken I went over the yellow markings with a wash, so they arent as bright anymore.
