To be honest I was turned off by several of the posters in the code thread this week and I was thinking why don't I know any of these guys. Then it hit me they were probably figure collectors. Seems like a different breed of collector. After that I concluded I am very happy to be a part of the statue community

I collect both and yes, specific collectors (be it figures or statues) are a bit different. Might have something to do with prices and display room since you can buy more figures (like 1K = 2/3 statues or 4/6 figs). In a Hot Toys line you could collect an entire movie license, statue wise that would be very hard. Also, figures are mostly movie based against statues which are mostly comic/fantasy based so those will cater to a different crowd.
But we all have to start somewhere, some of those young guys getting swept up in HT hypes will one day shift to statues (or not). I will say one thing, I don't see nearly as much hate or eletism from figure collectors against statue lovers than the other way round.

Yeah I had noticed that too. I was like wow seriously, some of these comments are absurd, and frankly; it's a different set group.

I have nothing against figures, I just don't collect em. I had some bad experiences and rather pass on that **** again.

Collectors are collectors though, some crazy ****heads either way.

I agree. At the moment a majority of my collection is PVC anyways, so it makes no difference to me. A quality statue is a quality statue, PVC or polystone.

Believe it or not I wouldn't mind if Sideshow made all of their PFs out of PVC as long as the paint jobs were of the same quality as they are now. But I absolutely refuse to shell out $400 or more on a plastic statue. So the prices would have to come down quite a bit.

The one thing that does worry me though is some PVC statues tend to lean and warp over time, especially if they are posed with more weight on one side. SS would have to use a stronger plastic to prevent this from happening, or the pieces may be restricted to less dynamic poses. I know some collectors would love a more standard museum pose for their statues anyways.

Consider not worrying about it for now and crossing that bridge if and when it happens. Watch an MOS PF review on Youtube and you will be blown away by the quality of PVC. Consider giving it a chance until you have reason to dislike PVC. Think of the positives: less breakage and fragility etc. Just imo of course and a friendly suggestion. :)

I have some plastic statues. I am a huge fan of Kotobukiya, great paint apps and much less fragile. I have seen the video reviews of the MOS PF and I don't think it looks that bad at all, the left foot fitment issue does concern me a bit though. But I do have an issue with a plastic statue costing $380, or more. If they could drop the price on the PVC PFs I would be fine with it. But I highly doubt SS will be dropping the prices on anything at all, other than the price it costs them to make the statue.

If Ht get 1:4 license. I go with HT. Same plastic. Cheaper and multiple switch out parts.
