Super Freak
Makes me wonder where did all these super cash rich collectors pop out from Guess the majority of us are just no competition.
I was surprised with the WK true form. Thought it was going to be the ML. Might have to bid on it!
It's pretty funny that the artists that sculpted the statues didn't even knew that they made something called "Artist-Proof" statues...At least Brigitte Wuest didn't even knew they had made Artist proof statues!
Or do they mean that it's the painters who make em "artist-proofs"?
To me AP are no big deal. I have read that AP could even mean an unnumbered replacement of a damaged statue. What I really would have liked to see was something similar to the other Sideshow lines up in the auction. Artist Samples! An original sculpture by WETA sculpturer themselves! Some of the Maquettes for Balrog and the Trolls look incredible. I guess Sideshow doesn't have any of those and only offered AP. I have all those statues, so I pass.
Ditto to that... if the piece is made by the artiste OWN hands and PAINTED by his or her own hands too, that will make some value!
As a note, the "Artist Proofs" are created as a small separate edition from the standard numbered issues. Generally, they are reserved as special gifts for artists, friends and business partners. Physically, they are identical to the main edition, apart from the designation as AP on the baseplate. Their heightend collectibility arises from rarity on the market rather than any discernable difference in production controls.
Lost the CT....went for $2025
Wiki.....$2101.03!!!
That's actually a quite reasonable price for an AP, given the special circumstances of this auction, I'd call the winner a lucky guy!
