The sculpts are pretty great, for sure. The rest is a mixed bag. I needed to break out the silicone lubricant and a toothpick (kinky) to oil the body joints, so moving an arm didn't sound like opening a door in a haunted house. Still, was the same with the LimToys Big Boss, so no big deal.

Accessories all need a little bit of work with touching up the paint, but if I can manage it then it isn't hard. Of course, it will depend on how fixated you are with getting the figure 'game accurate.' For example, there's a nice rust effect on the flashlight, problem is it's bare metal and the in-game flashlight was black/grey. Also the machete seems to be a tad out of scale, to the extent that it's a bit more like a sabre (of course, you can get longer machetes!) If you want to get really picky, then the revolver isn't the same as the in-game version, but most people will never notice/care.

Still, the pipe and wooden beam look good, the weathering on Joel's clothing isn't bad (whether you'll want to fiddle with that depends on which game-stage Joel you want, as I think he got more disheveled over time) and the sniper rifle is nice. Smoke bomb, molatov, and duct tape are ok, only thing to do with those is to make them look a bit dirtier - and in the case of the duct tape, apply some gloss varnish so it has a duct tape sheen.

Overall, I'm very pleased. A lot of that is down to this being a dream figure, as it was around VTS figure prices and the body/accessories were a bit wobbly compared to VTS figures that I have. However, when you consider how much we'd be paying for The Last Survivor if cynics like Hot Toys got hold of it then I have very little problem with a handful of issues, but did think it might be useful for others to know about them.

Nice review :goodpost:

Got mine today, sitting at home waiting for me. Can't wait. Already have a gas mask, shotgun and rifle to use if needed for a custom I'm now abandoning in light of this new release.

Like for the price the quality matches some Hot Toys I've have/had, even the box, how can a little company make foam inlays like this when a €300 Hot Toys comes in a ****** plastic tray... makes you wonder.

Huh, so it seems that what I thought was a roll of tape is actually supposed to be a stretch bandage. Never saw Joel use one in the game, but he went through a lot of gauze, so I bleached it with turpentine and put a black wash on to dirty it up a bit. Looks more appropriate now!

Also, a question about the metal square that comes with the flashlight. I foolishly lost mine when I was doing some of the painting, but while it's easy enough to find tiny magnets on ebay I seem to be having trouble sourcing another one. Any suggestions?

Heres mine
Love this guy!
Mostly straight out of the box. (No weathering yet). I did remove the fat suit under the clothes so the arms lay more naturally to his sides. Added a gas mask and swapped the axe and machete with the Shrunken Head Studios Bits and Pieces versions. Custom base by me. Bring on Ellie!!

I am impressed, too. Seems like some good paint work went into this. Body is a bit squeaky, and my legs are a bit loose and my arms are a bit tight. Would look to trade out, but I see the forearms are painted. Haven't pieced together the weapons yet. Guess you have to use pieces of the sticky tack with the scissors and strips of tape to create whatever look you want. Would have preferred one solid piece, but I guess this gives you the plain weapons and the upgraded weapons in one.

Hmm...think I'll wait until cctoys comes up with their version.

'Joe' though is excellent. Headsculpt to me looks spot on and I love the accessories. If I have any criticism it's that I wish the boots were a little higher or his pants were a little longer. A minor criticism though I'm very pleased with it.

Was impressed too by the box and just how the whole figure is presented.

Redman's Ellie is likely to be too short as well as being too slight to represent the character. But as I'm not looking to represent her I might get both Redman's and CC's to add variety to my survivors. They'd be sisters!

Is the body a typical Wolverine type or does it look different?
From what I can tell it's much like the HT Wolverine muscle body. I haven't taken all the clothes off the tell for sure. But he does come with a fat suit which I removed to get his arms to lay better

That looks great Rzeznikk! Nice work.

How much of a pain was the scissors?

Again, great job.

What a horrible body Redman are using.

Man, that looks way too small. I always thought Ellie was 12-13. This makes her look 8.

But at the same time, Ellie has been a big hole in my collection for years, so if this is the only one we are going to get I may consider it.
