I think the main reason behind inconsistencies with Sideshow products is that there is not a full-time Sideshow production person who's at the factory every day. They go over there a few times a year, but unless someone is there consistently then you are going to have these consistency issues with QC, because often times they're not discovered until it's too late in the production process. This is Product/Project Management 101. But I understand that's not the business model for Sideshow and isn't in their current structure or budget, unfortunately.

Conversely, being in HK (and obviously speaking the native language of those in the factories) is what gives Hot Toys a huge leg up in this area. This is yet another reason why Sideshow becoming more and more involved with Hot Toys can only be a good thing for collectors.

Didn't someone post earlier that the TT and Pro joints are engineered differently? It was something about how the TT joints have rubber sockets or washers whereas the Pro joints are simply plastic on plastic. Apart from the excessive looseness of the Prometheus, I don't prefer the ratchet-like knee joints compared to the completely smooth range of motion of the TT knees.

HT > SS

Anyone that doesn't agree is wrong.

And yes HT could pull off a great Chewie i have no doubt! Hell, i bet medicom could even do it. It may look Asian but i bet they could do it. :)

(insert medi chewie height issue joke here)

Given the fact that Sideshow's pieces are nearly 50% less than HT's I don't think that's a fair comparison. If they were charging the same amount, possibly. But, I don't doubt that HotToys could produce a Chewie, just that it's not as easy as snapping your fingers and it's done. He'll take some serious R&D regardless of who does him..

However, the Medicom version...:yuck. I'd like my Chewbacca without a Godzilla-like face, with fur and he must be taller than Luke. Something that'd likely get overlooked in favor of "style."
