Chris Howes' Sculptural Creations

Well, there have been people who talked about getting sculpts from him outside this forum, so that may be where the 18 month number came from. Or it could be an exaggeration. I don't think the exact number of months matters when we're still talking about over a year.

I'm not making excuses for Chris about his delay but I think it couldn't have been 18 months. Chris joined this forum May 2008. That's about 15 months. He didn't start accepting commissions until maybe a month or so after joining.

I think you are correct. Summer Glau was one of Chris's first comissions on on SSF and began on 9/15/08. The two prior comissions were his Robert Downey Jr./Tony Stark sculpts, and his Christian Bale/Bruce Wayne and Heath Ledger/Joker sculpts. Both of those were geared by him.

Since Diver 4/Capt Dan can be discounted, I think the longest most people have been waiting has been about 10 months. Not excusing Chris' handling of the situation, just putting it back in perspective.

Good call. I think it was captdan who was throwing around "over a year" which is probably where that came from.

I do recall some people saying they have been waiting a long time for either Bale or Joker sculpts though.

I said over a year for the house heads once. Really, 9 months, pushing 10 months now is not really as much of a stretch as toyadventurer made it out to be

problem isnt the sculpts take a long time..the problem is peeps are buying them on ebay and getting them BEFORE people who pre paid their sculpts up to 6 months ago!!

I agree - we saw completed pics of the River Tam version of Summer Glau back in March or April. Those haven't shipped yet either.

18 months was an exaggeration on my part. Sorry. I agree that the longest wait was probably mentioned by captndan. My personal payment was made 10/08/08 so over 9 months for me.

I'm getting tired of talking about this and logging on every day thinking there might be news.

The money isn't an issue. For me it was really not very much money at all. I guess some would say you get what you pay for. Others would say at the cheap rate he can take as long as he wants. for me personally, I probably could have waited a lot longer if only others were receiving their stuff. I could have waited longer if I didn't already know he was finished with the item and inexplicitly not mailing them out. I could have waited longer if I didn't know he was selling finished product on ebay rather than sending them to people that paid.

I really feel hosed. I'm embarrassed that someone I met on this community would do that to me and a lot of other people, a few of who I consider friends.

Finally I feel bad that it escalated to a point where we are fighting with one another. Frankly, I want to say I think its embarrassing that people here defended his behavior and excuses. I also think its sad that indeed the mob mentality has affected me because I see how my mind made the issue bigger. I started to forget whether it was $20, $30 of $40 he owed me. I started exaggerating the length.

So before I'm consumed in bitterness, I'm going to try my best to not follow this drama so closely anymore.

i opened a line of communication with mr howes, back in may of 08, when diver4 bought a borg queen of ebay. i found mr howes by internt search on the borg queen, and i was the one who made him aware his sculpt had been produced. at the time, he had NOTHING for sale. he offered the originals sculpts he had done on ebay, but go no takers, then decided to produce them for himself.

all the custom commisions did not start until after that point, period.

Again 9 months, 18 months, 2 day is irrelevant when the person who is not delivering is acting like this.

I'm just so tired of the games. It's excuse after excuse. I keep being patient and giving him the benefit of the doubt and he's done nothing but give me more doubts with more excuses and now the rumor of he's not coming back. I try to see the best in people and so that tends to make me more patient with people but I'm about out of patience. Whatever.

I dont have much hope for this "relayed meassage" idea. but at this point its that-then try to get money back thru legal means. I would preffer to get a response from Chris with some sort of encouraging news. I guess Im still holding out hope. but not for too much longer.

exactly. I don't wanna cut this situation off as completely done with yet. I'm still hoping and keeping faith. I just hope that we aren't being naive and being walked on.

point is:

there are facts to deal with, lies just muddy the waters.

anyone stating they paid 18 months ago must be psychic, as he was not selling any items.

captdan was not the only one who bought all three figures for over $300, i did as well, recently received the second, and will patiently wait on the third.

I didn't say you were "mounting a defense" I said that noobs were rising to howes defense. A lot of noobs are chiming in and they don't seem to have ever posted anywhere but in threads concerning howes.
In regards to lies, you should read ALL the posts in ALL the threads before you start down that road. If it weren't for howes' lies we wouldn't be having this debate.

i have been reading the threads, thats the point, no one should be complaining about the "time frame", as there were not deadlines set to begin with, in fact, all were warned they would take time.
the complaint all should have with howes is the lies qabout delivery, which is most of the complaints, but you cannot justify your position on that by making more lies.

this forum deals with figures...hmmmm...WITH RESIN HEADS! which is why i was here, to buy resin heads and scratch build the rest.

it was your veterans, such as capt dan, that brought howes here in the first place.

dont make the assumption because i am a "noob" that i havent been reading the threads?
