Got a ticket for the Sunday only :horror Currently working on a few opportunities to get more days but very happy that I will be there.

Oh dear, only Sunday?

Look on the bright side... You attend, and then you have access to Pre-Reg the following year.

There really is tons of stuff to do outside of the convention.

Re: Christopher Reeve Superman the Movie Premium Format Figure -part 2

No - anything shown at SDCC is as close to the production piece as possible. Frequently it's a production sample on display - occasionally it's from actual production.

Riiiiiiiiiiiight...

You must be the new guy.

Honestly, you did good to score a ticket period! It has gotten INSANELY popular. I kind of wish it would go back to being a comic convention and not a Hollywood broughaha with all the panels. Thats what makes it so tough to get in.

You will love your time in San Diego though!

I was browsing an online sales site for collectors and happened to find this guy who's selling quite a bunch of custom lifesize busts. They ranged from amateurish at best to downright atrocious, but his Chris Reeve Superman caught my eye.

A remarkable effort, imo. While a bit of an idealized, larger-than-life kind of portrait, it actually reminds me much, much more of Reeve than both the Cinemaquette and SSC's PF. I think the sculptor really nailed Reeve's smirk and that this is more like the Reeve we all have in mind when we think about him. Thus, I find it truly i-co-nic.

So, well, I thought I'd post it here for the sake of discussion.

Ummmm... No ... He is the owner and operator of THIS ENTIRE SITE!!! YOU are the NEW GUY!!

Yes you are absolutely right. I am the new guy (not really) and I am not worthy of conveying my opinion. It's a good thing Dave has a bodyguard. It won't happen again and I'm sorry if I offended you (not really).

Dear Dave,
My comment was sarcastic (as I'm sure you know). I won't go into details but I received an infraction. Yours truly.

Sigh...

Still for the sake of discussion, here's Bobby C's attempt.

Need to fix the acrylic eyes a bit though, it looks like he's looking in two different directions...the other one is just kinda creepy though....okay really creepy like CR from the Backwoods thinks you gots a purtty mouth.

:lol :lol :lol

Yeah, like I said on the other forum, it verges on cartoonish, but it's still a good bust for an amateur sculpt.

That is a recast of the bust that I commissioned from a Greek sculptor a few years ago. I've tried to stop recasts being done but it's too late for this one. Don't know how it got out there because only a few of them were sold. One of the supposedly "trusted" people that I sold one to has obviously sold it on and it got into the hands of a recaster.
The original sculptor really captured the likeness and if anything, it looks better unpainted because the paintjob shown on this recast is not the best (the "slugs" for eyebrows are kiiling it).
