The odd thing is I did a flat black Testors Akryl coat and then did a Tamiya clear then chrome - was a little dull so I then re-cleared with the aerosol version then the meltdown happened. Not sure what went on there... The stuff coats like glass but the interaction is not worth it.

The aerosol clear is lacquer. A general rule of thumb I learned a long time ago building models is to never put lacquer, which is a pretty "hot" paint over acrylic (or enamel.)

Yeah - it says it's for plastic but they should be a little more specific.
