If you're a fan of their work, then you really need to check out their independent line of figures!

I've thought about picking up some of their figures... that Elephant one from last year was amazing looking. This one is awesome as well.

yeah, but the 1st series isnt till the FALL....the waiting for these will be tough...hopefully its 4-6 figures a series

Probably 6 figures per series. First series will most likely be:

1 x He-Man
1 x Skeletor
4 x Smash Blade He-Man

if thats the case, the line will be OVER before it even started

That's not He-Man, but "King Grayskull" from the last cartoon series. He's supposed to be Adam's ancestor, and when he died in battle vs. Hordak, his life force became the "power" of Grayskull. Best ep in that series!

But this line is aimed at us, nostalgic freaks. The chunky 80s look is no accident. There's no cartoon tie-in, and as such, the line's success will depend solely on us. Also, with the Four Horsemen behind it again, I'm supporting this all the way!

^ those are the older 200x figs, btw

If they really do aim it at collectors and don't drown us with endless neon-colored variants this line could do pretty well. Heck, years later and they are still making the statues from the earlier series.

i knew they were going to release the King Greyskull as a Comic con exclusive :rock

probably limited to 1000 and I am getting 2 :rock

I love the Fourhorsemen's atistry. I still got their Hordak and Evil Lyn figures. Also, their Batman figures too. I love their style.

He looks kind of cool I guess but I thought the 2002 He-Man revamp was really quite lame. I'm not looking for updated action figures based on those characters and storylines. Greyskull is a castle, not Conan with a blond wig.

I'm curious to see what other characters they do but any reference to the '02 toon is anything but "classic" IMO.

According to the reports of the MOTU Mattel Panel...the line is indeed aimed at collectors and not kids...it'll actually be called "Masters of the Universe Classics". Most likely it looks like they'll be re-using a lot of the same molds and body parts of the DCU figures which is a pretty smart idea on Mattel's part.

However the report also states that the life of the line is dependant on retail sales (which can be said for any toyline). Mattel is not really known for being the most "collector-friendly" toy company in terms of action figures unlike HASBRO. Mattel isn't also known to be very patient either...but they have been taking more steps towards being more collector-oriented. Hopefully they will not repeat their mistakes from the 2002 MOTU series and keep this series running strong.
